Kunden loben die Tierärzte und das Personal als fantastisch und aufmerksam, mit zeitnahen Terminen und fundierter medizinischer Beratung. The veterinarians and staff are fantastic, the location is great, and the relationship with Polk AH is a wonderful bonus. Overall, they have an amazing team and I cant imagine taking my two pups anywhere else!
Problem 1: this hospital is refusing to work with external pharmacies that sell medicine cheaper. The hospital offers the dubious and self-serving claim that external pharmacies have drug quality and safety concerns. That's disingenuous. The hospital wants to sell you its drugs at higher prices. I wish they'd say that, or just charge more exams, etc. Problem 2: I scheduled an appointment and was then told that a same-day appointment was available at an additional cost due to a cancellation. My jaw dropped. If you need to fill a cancellation, why are you charging me more? A little sleazy and dishonest. Problem 3: I was sold a bottle of shampoo for $78 that costs $22 on Amazon. I appreciate the convenience. I don't see why the convenience costs $56. That kind of thing makes me trust the veterinarians recommendations less.
$70 for a nail trim on a chihuahua that took under 5 minutes with no muzzle required. (My appointment was for 3pm and time of email receipt is 3:02pm) I asked to watch so I could see how they are handling my dog. When I asked about the charge, I was told at the counter that they are trying to “run off nail trims” - interesting use of language. I felt this was spiteful, and I didn’t have my regular nail nail tech either.. I think if someone is going to charge more than double the amount of a nail trim than normal, the client should be informed. I wasn’t given an estimate. I just scheduled a standard nail trim. Then I should’ve been notified. Overall, I think it’s time to find a new vet and will reach out to further organization to file a complete. My dog was perfectly behaved and I don’t know why they are trying to run her off as was stated.
Castro Animal Hospital has been my go to vet for the past 3 years. The good: Extremely friendly Vet staff; the Technicians and Vets have always been really helpful with any of the questions I've had for my cat. She has had a handful of things come up: Tapeworms, Pink Eye, eating issues, and I feel like the Vets have always provided sound suggestions and medical help when necessary. Earlier this year, I was relocating to Japan and wanted to bring my kitty along. The process is long and complicated, but both Dr. Najim and Dr. Lee made it as smooth as it could be. The difficult: It's a bit pricey, the parking situation has made me late to several appointments, the are pretty strict with a 10 (or 15) minute rule for their appointments if you're late.
On the recommendation of a friend I brought our new pup in to The Castro Animal Hospital this week and couldn't be happier with the experience. Dr. Inman was great. She has a very nice kennel side manner, asked all the questions I forgot to ask, and made valuable suggestions -- just what we are looking for in a vet. We were even taken into the exam room at the appointed time! The facility itself is nice and clean and modern, but nonetheless still feels like a neighborhood vet's office -- not all corporate and app-run. I think we're going to be very happy here.
