The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art is a beautiful and impressive museum that’s absolutely worth visiting when you’re in Kansas City. It features an amazing collection of ancient and historic artworks from around the world, making it a great place for art lovers and casual visitors alike. One of the best parts is that entry is completely free—you just need to pick up a wristband from the self-service kiosk at the entrance. The museum is spread across a large area, with extensive indoor galleries and a few outdoor art installations as well. There are two floors of exhibits, and you’ll need at least 2–3 hours to comfortably explore everything without rushing. The layout is spacious and easy to navigate. Parking at the museum is paid, but you can find free roadside parking on some nearby streets, which is a good option if you want to save a few bucks. Overall, a must-visit spot.
This place is very cool. The restaurant is a great place for photos. They have interesting furniture and paintings from Van Gogh and Monet. Definitely worth the visit. Free to walk through. Must pay for parking.
I have loved this place since I was a girl. Field trips from school, weekend time with grandparents, college humanities projects were based here. My husband proposed to me in the front lawn, and we came back to take first look pictures on our wedding day. We moved out of KC a few years ago but when we came home for christmas, we made sure to pencil in some time at the Nelson Adkins Art Museum. We love you!!!! Thanks for always being free, for holding some of the most exquisite art I've ever seen, and hosting amazing exhibits while constantly expanding and supporting the community. We love you!!
The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art is an amazing place to visit. The building is beautiful, and the art collection is very impressive, covering many cultures and time periods. The galleries are spacious, quiet, and well organized, making it easy to enjoy the artwork at your own pace. The outdoor sculpture park is also a great place to walk around. A must-visit spot for art lovers and anyone visiting the area. It’s free indeed.
Really cool museum with great outdoor views and space and paintings and art. The art is really awesome with some wonderful pieces. If you were there for a day you could see half of it. The cafe food is really good too with lots of pastries and lunch-brunch food that is really nice on a good day for a picnic. Mini putt is fun including the pieces in the holes. Really fun alone or with a whole family. really really fun.
