Holey moley! Looking for one of the best croque madames you will ever have? Look no further. It was amazing. We originally stopped for the amazing looking lemon meringue so had to have that too. It was delicious.
Highly recommend having tea and food here. We had 3 different teas, scones, club sandwich and a piece of cake. Was awesome. We were seated inside which was nice but crowded but I definitely think better then being in the arcade. We saw multiple people having the high tea. If you think you'd all eat it might be worth it. Looked too big for most people and we got better valu picking our food and tea. Staff super attentive and trying to get everything done for the crowd. Would definitely go again.
We had a wonderful high tea experience at Tea Rooms 1892 in the beautiful Block Arcade. The high tea – including the children’s option – was absolutely delicious, with a generous and well-thought-out selection of beverages, savoury items, and sweet treats that catered beautifully to all ages and tastes. The standout for us was the scones: warm, incredibly light and fluffy, and served with jam and cream – easily the best we’ve had in a long time. The service was exceptional. Staff were attentive, warm, and genuinely welcoming, making a point of acknowledging the children, giving them their own choices, and ensuring their voices were heard. It made the experience feel relaxed, inclusive, and special for the whole family. A delightful spot for a classic Melbourne high tea with thoughtful service and outstanding food. Highly recommend. ☕✨
Ari was our beautiful hostess who served us during our high tea. She was very client focussed, friendly and explained the high tea and the menu. She was extremely attentive and made our time here special. Lovely selection of food, scones were warm and fresh and there was a lovely selection of teas. Very Happy with our visit.
Another disappointment at a place that makes big claims about its tea service but has clearly not looked into the historical difference between high tea and afternoon tea. For a Briton, it comes across as something of a joke. In general, it feels like a heavily advertised venue with a beautiful shopfront designed to lure people in, but the reality does not live up to what is promised. My friend enjoyed the sandwich, which is a plus. The tea itself was not the one we ordered, although that was a minor issue. The real letdown was the pastries. I left half of my cake because it tasted old, and my friend, who is a chef, barely touched hers either. At the very least, we expected the pastries to be fresh. On another note, we were practically asked to leave when a bill folder was rather abruptly dropped on our table, without any attempt at subtlety or courtesy. This only reinforced the impression that the focus is on turning tables and commercial gain, rather than offering a relaxed experience to savour. Overall, a very underwhelming visit that we will not be repeating.
