I enjoyed a lovely visit to the Wine Company earlier this evening. The place has a fantastic selection of wines - and the fact that I was recommended to visit here by another wine shop two miles down the road should speak volumes. The real star of the show, however, was James. Between serving a seemingly never-ending stream of sometimes-rowdy customers, and tidying up after not one, but two customer-induced spillages in the beer section (come on now, lads), James very kindly gave me his time and diligently helped me pick out two superb bottles of red and white that I am due to give as gifts tomorrow morning. I couldn’t be happier with the selection, which was the result of James spending time to understand precisely what the gifts needed to say in their individual ways. Truly a superb ambassador for the company. It’s a real shame I live in England as I’d be back here in a heartbeat otherwise. Many thanks again. Top notch service.
Gilles is a real wine connoisseur, and this shop has a very fine selection of wines. The wine club is a great initiative and I have attended often. I would advise returning to the tried and tested taster evenings at the Errigle inn as opposed to pairing with a city centre restaurant for food and wine evenings. Firstly, the taxi situation in and out of town is unreliable; the food, apart from a wonderful terrine, was mediocre, and finally the restaurant allowed folk to sit in the wine tasting part of the premises who had evidently no interest in the proceedings - and talked their way through Gilles' wine talks. Perhaps a small mic would d be useful? Bring back the wine and cheese evenings in a place that is less pretentious, where the acoustics are better, and the audience is made up of those who have paid to attend because they are interested.
Superb collection of wine, also do a huge range of beer especially craft beers. Staff really helpful, especially one lovely French man who definitely knows his wine. 5 stars to him, the staff and the shop.
Excellent selection of wine and beers with walk-in refrigerated section. I chose my own wine but asked for some advise on beer. Due to a massive over supply of the in vogue IPA the staff weren’t able to offer any credible recommendations. Otherwise a really nice shop with plenty of choice and friendly staff.
