Fantastic Omakase dining experience at Hikaru by Tomo tonight. The nigiri was expertly prepared by chef Hikaru. Fish was super fresh, rice was perfectly cooked and seasoned and was served at the perfect temperature. I'm hands down an Uni person but our favorite tonight was definitely the Negitoro handroll (green onion tuna)....fantastic flavors and textures....an absolute symphony in the mouth. Excellent service by Ann who was a wonderful host. Can't wait for their more traditional Omakase restaurant to open in the future....I will be there. Enjoy.
TOMO is an incredible restaurant for a beautiful omakase experience in Ottawa that offers a truly elevated dining experience which feels both refined and intimate. Each course is carefully composed, highlighting exceptionally fresh fish, perfectly seasoned rice, and precise technique. The pacing of the meal is thoughtful, allowing flavors and textures to unfold naturally without ever feeling rushed. The counter setting creates a calm, focused atmosphere where the craftsmanship behind each piece is easy to appreciate. Service is attentive, enhancing the experience without distracting from it. Elegant in its simplicity and executed with confidence, TOMO stands out as one of Ottawa’s most memorable sushi experiences.
Had the pleasure of experiencing omakase (Hikaru by TOMO) - and what a delight! Everything was absolutely delicious, and you can really tell just how much thought and pride goes into the whole affair. The ingredients are thoughtfully sourced, and the chef is clearly a master of his craft. Will absolutely be coming back to TOMO to try some of their regular menu items... And take advantage of the great specials they have throughout the week (hellooo half price Wagyu!). 5 stars, and thank you for making my birthday dinner one of the best meals of the year.
Amazing place and ambience. Authentic food, great service, great selection of cocktails, warm and cozy feel! Loved the place. I would highly recommend to others. The quality and the freshness of fish was amazing. I also had a chance to talk with the chef and he knew what he was making and talking about. I will definitely come back again.
What a lovely restaurant! Four of us in total ended up getting two of their Friday night set dinner for two. We picked opposite options so that we got to taste everything (per the suggestion of our wonderful waitress). We added a Chirashizushi and a sashimi plate also. The food was so elegantly presented, smart, dainty, modern and inviting. Everything tasted divine. The sauces and garnishes enhanced the flavors of each dish, maximizing the potential of the main ingredient. Our waitress was phenomenal! Her suggestions were great, and she was always there when we needed her for something. The vibe in the restaurant was so much fun. You get the sense that they want you to sit, relax and just have a good time with your friends.
