Die Tubman Gallery im East Lancaster Ave-Viertel von Fort Worth ist ein indie-orientierter Kunstraum, der lokale Künstlerinnen und Künstler in den Bereichen Malerei, Skulptur, Keramik und Fotografie unterstützt. This past Sunday at Blank Space Fort Worth, I witnessed something truly special. Heritage & Hustle was more than just a market—it was a vibrant celebration of Black excellence, entrepreneurship, and community. As I moved through the bustling space, supporting incredible entrepreneurs, I discovered a hidden gem: Tubman Gallery. More than just an adjacent space, it felt like a portal—a powerful reminder that art is more than expression; it's connection. It bridges divides, strengthens community, and tells the visual stories that shape our culture. "I SEE THE FUTURE: IT’S BLACK", the gallery’s current exhibition, embodies this truth. Featuring works by Desiree Griffith, Ellex Swavoni, Anthony Blue Jr., and Manuel Mendoza Sanchez, it showcases painting, ceramics, sculpture, and photography—all testaments to the power and complexity of Black art. But this exhibition isn’t just about viewing art; it’s about experiencing its ability to transmit history, beauty, and identity across time and space. What struck me most was the seamless synergy between the pop-up and the gallery. The energy of the vendors and the vision of the artists merged into a powerful expression of Black culture. It reinforced a truth: entrepreneurship is about legacy, and art is about connection. Both fuel our community, spark dialogue, and create opportunities that last beyond a single event. New gallery with local artists showcasing talent in sculpture, painting, and photography too.
Very cool venue with an indie vibe that supports local artists. The ambience is a nice mix of urban-meets-contemporary.
The Tubman Gallery was a phenomenal experience showcasing up and coming artists along with their diverse art work. I attended the inaugural exhibition which was a great turnout. I got to network with local business owners and I was lucky enough to catch the presentation of a new film by Jordan Riggs called "The Chrononaut". It was an awesome vibe and now i'm subscribed to the Tubmans social media page to stay updated on new events.
