Got a quick ice cream before our AMC movie. Good: - The ube swirl with blueberry hit the spot just right - A bit on the sweet side but very refreshing - Ice cream comes out very fast and staff are fast so quick service - More fast casual ambiance Bad: - A bit expensive for a single scoop of ice cream - No dedicated seating but there's a lot of space inside the mall Overall this was a simple stop after a quick dinner before a movie
Cute lil Asian-inspired ice cream shop located in SoMa's Metreon food hall. I will admit that I'm generally not the world's biggest Metreon fan -- it always feels barely half-open and slightly deserted, and it always carries a pretty strong scent of buttered popcorn from the AMC -- but Uji Time Dessert does make ducking inside worthwhile. They're most known for their soft serve with a taiyaki cone (which you can also get on top, with the ice cream in a cup, if you're more of a ice cream cup kinda person but still want the taiyaki). They always have their black sesame and/or matcha soft serve, but you can always switch it up with the ube and/or seasonal flavor. The classic black sesame and matcha is a great combination, with a lovely earthiness from the matcha and nuttiness from the black sesame. It does trend a little sweeter as far as matcha soft serve spots go, but it's still a delightful sweet treat. The seasonal flavor, of course, rotates, but I did love their Aug. 2025 flavor -- the honey osmanthus was super floral and a bit sweet, but not overly so. The cool, soft ice cream goes wonderfully with the warm, slightly crispy taiyaki; I'd honestly probably rather just get the taiyaki on its own and/or with less ice cream, but it's hard to complain about having too *large* a portion.
Yes. Would go back & great idea for a treat after the movies, as the movie theater is right upstairs. Go before the seasonal flavor passes! Mixing ube and the seasonal flavor, honey osmanthus, was one of my best decisions this week. Pure bliss. If you love ube like me, you’ll love this place. You can get it in a waffle cone, cup, or if you come early enough, taiyaki! I’d come back especially to try it in taiyaki form. You can’t mix any flavors together but you can mix matcha with black sesame and ube with honey osmanthus (see the pictures). My friend got the black sesame/matcha and enjoyed but we both liked mine (ube/honey osmanthus) the best. Fair warning: these melt Very Fast so be prepared to wolf down or be messy. Also shout-out to the service going above-and-beyond, offering to still give us ice cream right at closing. They didn’t have to do that and we appreciated it!
October 2024: I've been meaning to visit this store and was excited to see that Ice cream was brought in to work. Got to try a cup of Strawberry 🍓 rose. Ice cream was nice and fluffy. Flavor profile was sweet with just a hint of rose 🌹. Overall, was very pleased with the ice cream. Would definitely go visit this store to try other flavors. But if strawberry 🍓 rose was the only flavor available, I would get it in a heartbeat!
Skip the waffle cones! They are not fresh and they are out of a box! Go for the fish cone! I prefer black sesame soft ice cream with red bean filling. I have seen people getting half matcha half black sesame! The cone taste fantastic but it will melt quickly so you need to hurry up eating it or it might drip on your clothes
