I am sadly disappointed by how this place is run. I was hoping to find a homey place to work through some I jury and pain, but I found the front desk fairly unhelpful in navigating specific circumstances that could have used a little bit of nuanced thoughtfulness. Some of the teachers are great though. I also was a bit shocked that you have to pay if you call in sick to a class. I called in sick because as someone with immune challenges I wanted to respect everyone in the building as well as staff. Having taught for years I value students who stay home when they are sick. I was surprised to be charged a fee for doing so.
I started pilates in 2003 in Hong Kong and the studio owner had trained at VPC. So when I moved to Vancouver in 2007, that's where I went to continue with pilates and I have been going there ever since! At first it was just an enjoyable form of exercise but since then they have helped me to recover from serious illness and surgeries. All the instructors are extremely knowledgeable about the body and about the range of exercises to improve your body's functioning in all sorts of ways, using pilates and other techniques. They are also always warm, encouraging and understanding when you are not feeling your best. Finally, they also have amazing office/reception staff!
I’m so glad I chose VPC. I look forward to my equipment sessions here. The atmosphere is fun and easy and yet somehow people are motivated and focussed. All the teachers are very knowledgeable and attentive to every member. They offer tweaks to your form and answer all questions in ways easy to understand. The equipment is in good condition and the facilities are clean and comfortable. If you’re looking for a laid back but great Pilates session, try Vancouver Pilates Centre.
I've just started at the Vancouver Pilates Centre this fall and am really enjoying it. The staff are very knowledgable and friendly, the atmosphere is calm and supportive, and the studio is very well equipped and clean. I am learning new things every time I go and can feel myself getting stronger and improving my alignment in all activities. Thank you VPC for creating a great atmosphere to learn and practice Pilates in.
I've been a client here since 2013 (and for good reason)! I came to the studio with the intent to do rehab for an injury, but I stayed because of all VPC has to offer. There's no doubt in my mind that the teachers here are the best around. What is special about this studio is the ability to do individualized programs suited to your body and needs, and the attention to detail and care that the teachers offer. VPC offers a warm, safe, (and fun!) space to learn, move, and strengthen your body. Can't recommend it highly enough :)
