We went and got seated right away at around 5pm, but it started getting packed right after we sat down. Good overall service. We got the chicken plate, elk plate, fried calamari, and a cup of the green chile stew. The chicken was pretty good, it’s half a chicken instead of just a small piece of chicken breast. The elk though was really disappointing. I’ve had elk all throughout Colorado and New Mexico but this one here has been the worst. It didn’t even taste like elk, it tasted like (and looked like) meat loaf. For $50 a plate (elk) I was expecting better.
My husband and I just got back from spending our twelve year anniversary at The Warehouse tonight! Not a lot of pictures (we were very excited about the food). Started with the pear martini and the sprig for cocktails, calamari for a starter, and we split the bass and the yak trio as the mains. Cocktails were so balanced, the calamari oof- one of the best calamari dishes I've ever had (the aioli is something else), the sea bass was absolutely the best sea bass either of us had! The yak trio, whoever put that together with the sauces in the zucchini cups with the different cuts is a genius- if you get the yak make sure you go on the rare end, our server made sure to recommend that and it was perfectly cooked. Also, I meant to ask our server their name to put in the review and thank them but I was in a food coma brain lol. Thank you so much for the recommendations and just being rad all around, plus helping us figure out a way and giving us the instructions to take the bread pudding home to have later. Appreciate you all and thanks for hosting us for our anniversary! 🥂
The menu and food are spectacular. The elk was perfectly cooked. I’ve been here twice and the food was great both times.
My husband and I came here for our anniversary. It was nearly empty but began to fill up quickly after we arrived. Service was friendly and efficient, and the various wines I tried were amazing. The trouble came with the food. My husband ordered the elk, and the venison carpaccio was delicious. The duck and Orzo Paella were incredibly bland both it taste and appearance. The duck tasted like boiled chicken with no seasoning. I picked the seafood out of the paella, as that was the only edible part. We might be back if the menu changes, but the chef left us wanting more.
I saw this place on yelp and decided to give it a try. I started with a few appetizers and ordered the Yak Albondigas, fresh smashed guacamole and Sesame Fried Calamari. For my entrées I had the Pan Seared North American Elk Strip Loin and the Summer Vegetable Succotash & Grits. Most of the dishes were good but two definitely missed the mark. The biggest disappointment was the peach cobbler. It was more reminiscent of a peach crumble than a cobbler. There were peaches at the bottom but it was heavily coated with crumble. It also lacked serious flavor and was much different than what I've had in the past. However, in fairness, upon serving the dish, my server did say it was Colorado style, which, definitely was a surprise. The other dish was the Summer Vegetable Succotash & Grits. The grits were cooked well but did lack flavor. The vegetables were delicious and I appreciated the variety. The calamari was amazing. It came with a sauce that only enhanced its already bold flavors. It wasn't greasy or crispy but cooked just right. I can't recall ever having calamari this good. My server was very personable, friendly, and provided excellent customer service. She also provided me the names of a few places to visit while in Colorado.
