An absolute joke. Pay to park to watch children play sports. Disgusting to profit off of kids on parking.
Nice fields, decent parking access, even had food vendors. Down side they charged for parking.
Portal Potties need to be spread out. If you’re far into the field it sucks to walk all the way back just to use the restroom.
$5 cash only to park in dirt lot. Soccer fields are ok.
Arizona Jazz Fest 2023 – West Valley Event Complex I attended the Arizona Jazz Fest 2023 with a guest, and while the musical lineup was absolutely fantastic, the event itself was a mixed experience. The festival, which lasted three days, featured back-to-back performances from mid-morning to late evening, showcasing some of the best talents in jazz and soul. The October Arizona sun was as expected—blistering and relentless, with temperatures exceeding 100°F. On Day 1, the heat took a serious toll on attendees, with several people suffering from heat-related issues. It was disheartening to witness, especially because the event sponsor didn’t initially provide any free water or cooling stations. Profit seemed to take priority over the well-being of concertgoers. By Day 2, media coverage of the situation put pressure on the organizers, leading them to finally distribute free bottled water. Given the high cost of tickets and concessions, it was frustrating that this basic necessity wasn’t provided from the start, especially when thousands of people were sitting in an open field under the scorching sun. It felt like the focus was more on revenue than on attendee safety. Thankfully, Day 3 saw some improvements, and the music remained top-notch throughout the event. Every musician, band member, and staff member brought their A-game, which kept the atmosphere lively and enjoyable despite the other challenges. A couple of things to note: professional cameras were not allowed, which was disappointing. I had reached out months in advance for clarification but received no response from the event organizers. Communication was lacking, which added to the frustration. On a positive note, the variety of concession stands—offering everything from food to art—was impressive, and they provided some respite from the heat. Overall, while the Arizona Jazz Fest featured incredible performances, the sponsor’s focus on profit over people’s safety was a glaring issue. I sincerely hope they make necessary improvements for future events. Despite the setbacks, I do recommend attending the 2024 AZ Jazz Fest based on this year’s remarkable lineup. 2024 Lineup according to the official AZ Jazz Fest website. October 25th: Erykah Badu, KEM, Stokley, Gerald Albright, Tony! Toni! Toné! Ft. Dwayne Wiggins (Main Stage), Mike Phillips, Julian Vaughn, Rebecca Jade, J. White (Jazz Stage) October 26th: Mary J. Blige, The Isley Brothers, Joe, Sheila E., Raheem DeVaughn (Main Stage), Eric Roberson, Jeff Bradshaw, Justin-Lee Schultz, J. White (Jazz Stage) October 27th: Fantasia, The O'Jays, Musiq Soulchild, Nathan Mitchell & Michael Lington, J. Brown, Kevin Ross & LeVelle (Main Stage), Paul Taylor, Adam Hawley, Lin Rountree & Algebra Blessett, J. White (Jazz Stage) While the lineup might change, I guarantee you’ll still be thoroughly impressed by the artists.
