Hosted my staff holiday party here last night and it was league night but we arrived around 8:45pm and the gentleman working was so helpful. I really enjoyed how seamless it was to book 2 lanes for 12 of my staff to bowl. Such a great deal on Mondays to bowl $12pp unlimited. The lady working the bar also was so kind and quick. I love the old school aspect and glad this business is thriving! It was very busy on a Monday night.
After looking around on the Internet to find the lowest rates for midday bowling in Austin, I showed up to Westgate for their $27 an hour rate. The moment my girlfriend and I walked in, the young man at the front asked us our shoe sizes and sent us to a lane, with no questions and giving us no options as far as how long we’d play etc. At the end of just over an hour, our total is over 50 dollars. Of course I’m shocked and I ask why it wasn’t the same rate we saw online, and he informed us we would have had to ASK BEFORE we started if we could get that lower rate, which would have made a 20 dollar difference in our total- which of course is SIGNIFICANT MONEY. I told him that was not fair because he did not give us any chance to ask, just sent us to a lane without question, and he proceeded to overcharge us anyway and make a joke that we were “just upset because this guy ripped us off haha” while he was STILL IN THE PROCESS OF RIPPING US OFF. This worker isn’t getting paid off commission, and literally just overcharged us for no reason. Super uncool, and it definitely put a sour taste in my mouth after travelling to my childhood bowling spot and getting treated like that.
It's got that awesome old-school family vibe! It might not be super fancy or modern like some spots, but you're also paying less than half of what other spots charge...
Old school bowling. Saturday night meeting 🤝 as well as bowling. I don't think I've ever seen it quite like that ever before. Thank you Westgate Lanes for giving us the opportunity to have a room for an hour. Bowling 🎳 was awesome.
Decent pricing, great friendly staff, plenty of lanes. Not a bad spot for an average family outing. Threw some good games but the lanes were extremely dirty and by the time I noticed, my new ball (maybe have thrown 6 games with it prior) looked like I've been throwing it in a parking lot. I'd try and spin it in my towel to clean it and the towel would just stick to it. Very grimey lanes, unfortunately. If I wasn't just passing through, I would have asked a manager for a free resurfacing of my ball.
