A friend and I went and painted pottery on January 2nd. We had a great time painting! However, this business levies a service charge of 15% on all transactions (we didn’t get any food) AND a credit card surcharge. I could maybe understand having a credit card surcharge on small transactions, like under $10. But just raise your prices. Don’t nickel and dime your customers!
editing my rating to 5 stars due to the owner response. i appreciate Randy clarifying and did have a good experience. i completely understand the reasoning behind the service charge and credit card surcharge, i just wish it had been made more apparent so i that i wasn’t surprised and confused looking at my receipt. again, i totally would’ve just used my debit card had i known (the surcharge wasn’t a lot, it’s just the principle of the matter). this is definitely a fun place to check out, just be mindful that there is a service charge and there is also a credit card surcharge, so the price listed on the pottery alone isn’t the price you will pay at checkout. ————- the place and atmosphere itself is very cute and cozy. definitely worth checking out for the vibes and overall i had a great time painting pottery there recently with friends. the reason i’m giving a negative review is bc i was pretty upset after looking at my receipt. there was a 15% service charge i didn’t realize was going to be on there AND there was a credit card surcharge which i also was not made aware of. i definitely would’ve used my debit card had i known. they also ask you to tip…..there’s a service charge and they’re also asking you to tip? i didn’t get any food or drinks and was simply checking out for what i thought was the cost listed on the piece of pottery, so it felt very deceptive when i chose a $35 piece of pottery and was charged around $50. i mean…maybe there was a sign i missed somewhere stating the service charge and credit card surcharge? but my friends and i were checked out in the middle of the cafe on a handheld device, not at the counter, so even if there was a sign, how would i have had a chance to see it? wish they had just been more upfront. realistically when you walk in, they should have an employee giving you the run down and stating that there’s a service charge, etc. but instead it’s just kind of a free for all and you have to figure it out.
This place is so cozy and cute. I tried the Saturday night social pottery class. It was my first time and the instructor was so knowledgeable and helpful that I was able to make a cup and a bowl in 2 hours. It was super fun and I highly recommend their pottery tryouts.
Took my tribe of 6 to this cafe, they absolutely loved it, super friendly staff and warm inviting atmosphere! Everyone loved their projects, such a variety in the paintings You can do..
Commenting only on the restaurant, not the pottery studio: One star for the food, and a bonus star for the atmosphere. Our 8” pizza, 12” pizza, a coffee, and a tea cost us $68, including an $8 service fee. The kiosk even asked for an additional tip beyond that. The menu described the pepperoni pizza as “mountains of mozzarella and pepperoni, finished with juliened basil and red pepper flakes.” See the photo of the “mountains” of pepperoni and the lack of basil and red pepper. Enjoy the pottery class, but don’t come here for food
