For me, the point of going to a professional is trusting an expert to do it right and to minimize the work I have to do. Yaletown Accounting used to do both of these well when I went to them before 2020, but the last experience I had has completely put me off using their services again. 1. I just got a letter of reassessment where I'm owing $775. This is the sort of unpleasant surprise I wanted to avoid by hiring an expert. Imagine how awful this would be if I was living paycheck to paycheck. 2. They incorrectly filed my name on a previous year's return, causing the latest set of returns to fail. 3. After I resolved the above with the CRA, it took over 2 months for Yaletown Accounting to resubmit the returns. Every email I sent in I got a response of "we'll get back to you next week". I had to threaten a charge-back to be taken seriously, and it was promptly filed after that.
Great experience with this agency. They helped me recover underpaid amounts related to a U.S. win and were always quick to answer my questions. Even though the U.S. processing time was very long, they consistently reassured me and supported me throughout the entire process. Their service is efficient and much more affordable than other companies. I’m very satisfied and highly recommend them.
