Very impressed with the fence they put up! They completely redid our shared 100ft fence that was sagging. They made the removal and installation super easy. Better price than the other bids too!
Even better than we anticipated, A-1 Fence workmanship and product quality completed a substantial enhancement to our home exterior for a very competitive cost. This family owned company offers ease of communication with Melanie and skilled workmanship with Matt. Customer care was exceptional beginning with our initial call with Melanie who kept us informed from job estimate to job completion and explained that A-1 Fence offers a better grade of redwood lumber from their lumber yard than other common wood grades such as those supplied by Home Depot. The construction of our fence was expertly and professionally constructed, but the detailed housekeeping and follow-up work was sloppy and carefree. The young helpers were not taught properly that the cleanup and overall cleanliness of the project is also critical. We were most disappointed! May NOT be able recommend to a friend.
We've been meaning to replace our termite-ridden fence for two years now. We got quotes from a number of places, and A-1 came in competitively. We decided to go with them over a general contractor because their rates were lower, they had fantastic testimonials, and they're a local company that's been around for a long time. They were extremely patient as we made our decision, which I appreciate. The crew worked quickly, were respectful, and completed their work within 1.5 days. They did a great job cleaning up their work. The fence looks great and we're kicking ourselves for waiting so long. My only quibble is that you're going to wait: they'll call a few days ahead of the inspection for a quote, and then give you a general estimate of where you'll be after you sign the contract. In our case, after signing in mid-December, they estimated "mid-February," and that was spot-on, as they started on Feb 15. I will say that it was worth the wait and we're extremely happy with the results, as are our neighbors (one of whom is a retired union carpenter -- he was very impressed with the crew's work). We'd recommend A-1 to anybody in the Bay Area.
I have a very large retaining wall and fence that A-1 Fence built for me. The work is so structurally sound, I am sure it will last for many years; plus, aesthetically, it makes my whole back yard look like a different place! My neighbor wanted to use their landscaper. So happy I went with a licensed fence contractor.
