Immaculate. Lots of coffee shops in Portland are loud and harsh, or junky in the service of a hipster aesthetic. Not here. Above Grnd is clean, quiet, well decorated, and relaxing. It’s like stepping into an oasis from the busy inner SE atmosphere around it. Great place to meet, read, or get some work done. 10/10
I love this spot! The ability to work, network, eat and drink all while getting work done is priceless!!! Ive received 3 opportunities just being present and introducing myself. I utilize this space as my office. I am a small business entrepreneur and need to get away from my home office, this is my option. The music, the vibe, them ambiance is top-tier!
This coffee shop is more than a coffee shop. The atmosphere was cool and had the Portland vibe. To see people of color owning and operating it was a delight to see as a person of color. The coffee was tasty and the seating was comfy. I’ll definitely be coming back.

I love that they use high-quality beans and clearly know how to pull the perfect shot every time. Their pastries and small bites are also fantastic—fresh, flavorful, and the perfect complement to any drink. Whether you grab a croissant, a muffin, or one of their seasonal treats, you really can’t go wrong. The staff deserves a special shout-out as well. Love a new local spot. Coffee is so good. Drip, lattes- they make a specialty with banana milk. It’s dope.
