I hired Andre Handyman to do several projects around my house. I received a flat rate "estimate" for the work to be performed ahead of time. I was told it was going to take two full days of work to complete my project. Given the amount of work I was asking to be done, I didn't think that two full days was unreasonable for the amount of work and I approved the "estimate." The handyman that performed my work, Noel, was excellent. I have no issue with the work performed. In fact, he was so good that he got the work done in significantly less time than I think anyone initially thought it would take. When I received the bill, I assumed that the price would be adjusted based on the actual hours of work done, because that's typically how "estimates" work. To my surprise, I was charged the full amount. Based on the hours actually worked, the effective rate for the work was $225/hr. When I approved the "estimate", I fully understood that it was flat rate pricing. However, calling it an "estimate" necessarily implies that it will be adjusted based on actual work performed. I contacted Andre Handyman after to see if they would lower the total price given that the scope of work was clearly less than contemplated, but they refused to do so. I paid the full price at an effective rate of $225/hr - orders of magnitude above market for handyman work. If you choose to use Andre Handyman, please make sure that you understand that your "estimate" is not a true estimate. It is the actual price you will be charged no matter if the work takes half the time they originally "estimate". Had I known this, I would not have hired Andre Handyman. Update: Andre Handyman’s response to my review doesn’t address the issue. The issue is that I was provided an “estimate” based on what they assumed the amount of work would be. I admittedly approved the estimate because by its very nature, an estimate is just that…an estimate. And I believed that the final price would be commensurate with the actual amount of work completed because that’s how estimates usually work. It turned out the amount of work was much less than Andre Handyman estimated. Nevertheless, they charged me the price that they based off of their significantly overestimated amount of work. I still have the document they provided me to approve the work that clearly states “estimate” on it. If it’s just a flat rate price and not an actual estimate, then the document should not say estimate. It should just say flat price. Again, if you choose to work with Andre Handyman, be aware that the “estimate” they provide at the start of the project is not an estimate. It is the price of the project no matter how much they overestimate the time it will take to complete the project. In my case, that meant I paid effectively $225/hr for a handyman which by any measure is ridiculous.
Noel made a truly seamless repair on our nursery flooring after we had an intake vent rerouted. It ended up needing a second day of work and he made sure it was perfect. Really excellent craftsmanship and would recommend.
Adam is my Christmas miracle. I had 7 projects to be completed by Christmas! I didn’t know who to call until I found Andre Handyman. They sent me Adam! I showed Adam once of what had to be done he tackled each project in no time. Adam is very knowledgeable he can fix anything. Adam is professional, knowledgeable, and most of all personable. When he completed everything we went over his work WOW AMAZING! I am so pleased with his work. So if you need a handyman get Adam I’m working on my list for next year! Adam is A plus! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Andre Handyman Company did an excellent job! Adam repaired our sliding door and he was absolutely amazing. He was professional, respectful, and clearly skilled at what he does. The repair was done quickly and the door works better than ever. I really appreciate his honesty and quality of work. Highly recommended!
From the quote to the service, everything thing was great and organized. I had bathroom fan/lights installed with drywall repair work. Noel did an awesome job overcoming a previously attempted disaster. Everything is working great and looks even better!
