PERFECT BANH MI Hands down, the best banh mi I’ve ever had—period. The kind of sandwich that makes you shut up mid-bite because your brain needs all available resources to process what’s happening. Usually, when something’s this cheap, you brace yourself for “good for the price.” Not here. This place laughs in the face of your low expectations and then blows past them. Ambiance? Family-run, Vietnamese chatter flying back and forth, and I swear they could’ve been talking smack about me the entire time. Hell, they could talk about my mother for all I care—this sandwich is worth it. The shop is spotless, the kind of clean you only get from people who actually give a damn. And the price? $6 for a grilled pork banh mi that could hold its own anywhere in the world. Add a mango smoothie and a guava drink and you’re still walking out at $14. In the Bay. That’s robbery in reverse. Eat here once and you’ll spend the rest of your life comparing every other banh mi to it—and watching them fall short.
Yum! We got the #7 and #8. The picture with the brighter red meat is the #7, which we enjoyed more, though both were delicious. Great portion sizes for the price. Next time I come I will definitely be trying their other prepared food.
I got the special combo ham sandwich without cilantro and jalapeno - but I found a jalapeno in my sandwich. My partner also found jalapeno in #20 grilled pork with lemon grass even it was ordered with no jalapeno. Beside that complaint, the banh mi was really good! The bread is soft and crunchy without hurting the roof of our mouth and it's fully stuffed with the meats and veggies while being affordable! Although the inside of the shop is clean and organized, the streets is seemingly sketchy and dirty looking so be cautious. It might be hard to find parking. Otherwise, it's worth to stop by to try!
Loved the ham and meatball with egg. Bread was super crunchy and soft all at the same time. Sandwich was cheap, full of flavor, and delicious. Also got the shredded pork which was just meh and the shrimp app which was different. The Vietnamese coffee is not overly sweet and liked it a lot. The area is about what you would expect, but it was fine going mid day. Place was busy, but the line moves quick and there was plenty of street parking at 1pm on a Friday right out front. Egg with meatball was not a combo I was expecting, but the 2 flavors we’re delicious together. Would return. Cash and credit card accepted (3.9% fee for credit).
