I grew up in Brian Chewning's taekwondo classes. It was such a valuable part of my childhood, I knew I HAD to get my own kids (and husband) in there too! GetRaw Martial Arts is a GREAT environment for kids AND adults. Students learn valuable self-defense skills as well as critical values such as honor, respect, and perseverance. There are many places you can learn taekwondo, but THIS is the school where you learn so much more. I would recommend everyone give it a try. Bring the whole family, too!
What a great time I had this past Saturday doing a simple self defense class!! As someone who is semi-athletic but not coordinated, this was very helpful! I really appreciated the teaching style and Mr. Chewnings’ 30+ years of experience that make a huge difference! It focuses on training and understanding your mind to perform better in many aspects. I would highly recommend, and the people are always so kind.
Master Chewning’s facility is family centered where the skill of martial arts is coupled with leadership, respect, courage and discipline. We enjoy the family atmosphere and our boys learn these amazing skills. We love the reinforcement of strong life lessons and the mentality to keep moving forward.
Master Chewning and his team of instructors have really challenged our daughters in their martial arts journey. We came to Get RAW from another dojang in Lexington in January 2020 and haven't regretted that decision even through pandemic induced alterations. The staff and students welcomed our girls from day one and were reciprocal with belt rank. This is a very family-oriented atmosphere and I write this review without hesitation as a recommendation for anyone considering this for their own martial arts journey.
