I had a great experience at Dang Tax and Accounting. I needed some help to review my amended tax return. Michael at Dang Tax and Accounting quickly found an error in my return. He was generous enough to offer the visit at no cost since the visit only lasted about 10 minutes, which to me exemplifies amazing customer service.
*update April 2024: after I made a public review, they finally called me back and filed my taxes on time.* This is an unresponsive group of accountants. They are decently quick at putting documents together. However, it seems that Dang Tax will only respond if they are putting your tax forms together (and that's if you ask them to respond otherwise no updates on if they received the forms & are working on it), and then they are unresponsive when you try to finalize your tax return with them. If you have any issues finalizing it, they will ignore your issue and frustration and not return your calls. If you are looking for a supportive and responsive tax accountant, this is not it. For the past couple of years, Nina will NOT return my calls when I have run into issues with their tax return documents and needed to speak with her or someone on her team. I called three times this week, still waiting for a call from Nina or Michael. So after repeated patterns of unresponsiveness toward a long-time client, I plan to find a different accountant next year if they don't help me finalize my tax return.
I first did my taxes through Dang Tax in two years ago when the office was in Kent. It was a professional, efficient, and affordable experience. Since then, their business model has changed and I would no longer recommend their services. I made an appointment, but they evidently over-book. I walked in to a waiting room full of 15 plus people and I could not get an estimation of how long I’d be waiting. Also, when checking in, they asked me to write my social security number on a piece of paper and the receptionist entered that into a massive computer screen in huge font on display for everyone in the waiting area, which pulled up all of my details. That was concerning, but I’d had such a positive experience previously, I just sat and waited. I waited 20 mins and there was no movement in the queue. I left since it was impossible to get any wait estimation from the receptionist. Looked like I was going to be there at least an hour before ever being seen. The whole experience was just bizarre and so unlike the positive one I had years ago, when they were smaller and more professional.
I don’t know why there are so many 1-star ratings here as I don’t think others have rated this business fairly. I’ve been going to Charlie’s since I was 18 and have received the same service every time. Couple of notes when you come here: -Avoid booking an appointment for the weekend. Everybody and their mother is here as it’s the only available time these people can do their taxes. -Parking lot is small, arrive early. -Do your taxes early. Are you waiting around the last minute to do them, are you upset now that you have to wait +1 hour with others who also didn’t plan accordingly? You can only blame yourself for the wait time. -Bring everything. Obvious, but many people don’t do it. If you think the document has to do with taxes? Bring it. If you maybe think it doesn’t. Still, bring it. Avoid having to make another trip to wait in the queue to have your report looked after. -Typical process: make an appointment via phone. Arrive 10 minutes early to get checked in. Once you’re called, an employee will ask a few questions, input your information into the system as much as they can. Charlie will come by to do a thorough audit review of the report and submit it on your behalf. You pay and go home and that completes your civic duty for the year. -There’s no frills here. You get what you pay for.
Terrific, excellent service! Highly recommend! Michael generously took time out to successfully resolve an issue for me today. He was incredibly patient in listening to me and in explaining things to me in very clear and simple terms (and re-explaining when i needed it). He even waited very patiently on the phone for me as i excused myself to retrieve info for him and i was relieved and very amazed he knew exactly how to help me so quickly, despite my sometimes confusing explanation. Had i not called him, i would have made an error on a document - thank you, Michael! Nina is also amazing. I called a few weeks back for help and Nina offered intelligent advice. She and Michael both are very knowledgeable and i understand why my dad and relatives have used their service for many years! Great place!
