Worse company for moving services— I scheduled my appointment for 8:30am. At 9:00am, I received no confirmation or a call or anything of the sort regarding an ETA or if my appointment was still on. I call at 9:05am and the representative says that she will get an ETA on the movers. A whole hour passes and at 10:17am, the movers call and tell me they are 30 minutes away. At 11:21, they called to say that they are at the gate. This has been the biggest inconvenience for something that could’ve been so simple, especially when I was willing to pay my money AND TIP. I did not answer or open my gate for such POOR SERVICE! If I could rate 0 stars, I would break my thumb doing so.
Total rip off with careless movers. I had a $2500 bedframe I was wanting to donate ( write off ) the movers damaged the bedframe completely which resulted in not being able to donate nor receiving a donation receipt. Extremely over priced paid almost $600 for them to move bedframe out of storage, a medium size sectional, ottoman, coffee table & a tv stand. Will never use their services again very disappointed.
Furniture/Couch removal was that much easier with College Hunks. I've used them in Jacksonville, FL and now in Dallas, TX! Excellent communication, friendly service and easy payment process. Thanks for making the removal this morning stress-free before the Christmas holiday rush!
I had a disappointing experience with College Hunks Hauling Junk Moving Company. They estimated the cost and truck size over the phone, which led to major issues on moving day. The truck was too small to fit everything from our apartment, causing delays and stress. I wish I had the option to personally select the truck size. Thankfully Shawn (assistant general manager) suggested a team of three but I think in the future I may need four. The moving captain, Xavier, was a standout. He remained calm and professional throughout. However, his two helpers became careless after working for about eight hours, leading to a few broken items. To make matters worse, the final bill was almost three times the initial estimate given by Theresa. If you're considering this company, I suggest shopping around and confirming all details, including cost and truck size. Ensure there's an on-site evaluation to avoid surprises like I experienced. I hope my review helps others make better decisions.
I used College Hunks packing and moving services on Friday, December 29, and Saturday, December 30, respectively. I had an extremely unsatisfactory experience. I scheduled my in-person estimate for October 30, 2023. The office manager who did the in-person estimator was lovely and walked through my whole apartment. My estimate for packing and moving with four HUNKS was $1,763.25. The estimator clearly explained that December 29 would be the packing day, and December 30 would be the moving day. On December 29, four HUNKS showed up as agreed. After about an hour and fifteen minutes to an hour and a half, two of them said that they were booked for another job and left, which left me with two HUNKS to do an entire 2br/2ba apartment. The method to their packing was irrational and sloppy. There were items left in drawers, cabinets, and shelves after they left, and they wrapped non-breakable items and did not wrap glass and ceramic breakable items (see photos below), which caused several items to break during the move. Only having two HUNKS instead of four obviously drove up the cost of my initial estimate. As they had not finished by the end of the appointment, the office manager also came and helped pack while the HUNKS left. The office manager also left several glass frame boxes for the movers, which they didn’t use. They stuffed all the glass items in a large cardbox box. On December 30, there were only three HUNKS instead of the four that I was told were moving. One of the workers took a beverage from my apartment and started drinking it. The lead employee brought a Monster energy drink, put it on the floor, and knocked it over, causing it to stain a pillow and mattress pad. When I brought it to his attention, he said he didn’t know that it had been knocked over. He graciously offered to pack the items that the packing crew had left behind. My complaints regarding the moving crew are the number of damaged items during this move. The also packed my grandfather’s vintage car posters featuring his cars glass-to-glass, no boxing or protection, which caused one of them to be destroyed (broken glass and torn poster). My original packing and moving estimate was $1,763.25. On December 29, due to only having two HUNKS instead of four, I was charged an additional amount due to the hours. In total, I paid $2,967.88, $1204.63 more than my original estimate. I requested reimbursement for items that were damaged due to employee carelessness. I sent an original email and two follow-up emails, and no one has responded (versus being super responsive during the move). I would never recommend this company to anyone. I'm honestly shocked by the 5-star reviews unless this was a completely new crew of workers.
