This Curvesetter course was awesome. Their videos contained all the content you needed to conquer the MCAT without useless information. I had used Khan Academy and Kaplan books prior and was scoring 480s-490s. After I completed this course, I was above 500 instantly. If you are looking to score 510+, you will need much more than just this course to prep unfortunately. If you were like me and had trouble studying or need an amazing foundation to start studying, use this course!
Curvesetter really helped me solidify my concepts for the MCAT. I only had a 2.5 month period to study and I was able to finish the comprehensive course in about a month. This left me plenty of time to practice before the test. The self-paced format with lectures is far superior to reading a book and way more affordable than other company’s programs. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a content course! I was able to get over 95th percentile on the exam using only their content.
If you're looking to self-study for the MCAT but don't want to break the bank, this is for you (less than a third of price of the self-paced online courses from Kaplan and Princeton Review)! CurveSetter makes original video lectures based directly off of the AAMC content guide for the MCAT, so you're really getting the essentials without getting bogged down by the extra unnecessary details often in other prep books. Pro tip: you can also download the lectures on your phone and listen to them over again in the car if you're stuck in traffic as a form of passive review. Another huge thing for me was the suggested study schedule they provide you with! It's super easy to modify to your own study schedule, and provided that structure I felt I needed with self-studying. In the interest of transparency, I will say CurveSetter could add some material covering basic statistics/study design stuff that tends to come up on the MCAT. I did occasionally feel surprised by random P/S questions that came up on practice tests/the actual exam but tbh that is almost inevitable no matter what prep company you use (there are always those fluke questions in P/S). ESSENTIALLY: if you use CurveSetter, buy the AAMC practice materials, and use Google/Khan academy to reinforce or fill in any small gaps in your knowledge, you're getting awesome prep for the MCAT and don't really need other resources IMO. UWorld is great if you want more practice questions. Of course, it's up to you to put in the work, so don't go for this if you know you'll have trouble staying disciplined with self-study. TL;DR: CurveSetter + AAMC practice materials + Google/KA as reinforcement = prime MCAT prep for less money than big companies. Plus you get a suggested schedule so you get a little more structure than if you were to just use prep books to self-study.
