Darryl is a sweetheart and so helpful. This shop is a gem. Great selection and quality clothing. Not cheap but not overly pricey either (especially for NYC shopping). Hope to be back one day!
I went to Darryl's today for the first time, after walking by countless times. I'll be back! To be blunt, in case anyone else has the same thoughts: I'm in my mid-30s and wasn't sure if the store was for someone my age. IT IS. GO! It seems like Darryl has a great eye for pieces that are unique but fit easily into your wardrobe, and that complement a wide range of wearers. Prices are fair, not crazy high. Darryl and his partner are helpful and lovely. I ended up with two dresses that I can't wait to wear!
I have a summer formal wedding in NYC this weekend with nothing to wear. I spent 2 hours at Nordstroms late one night but came out empty handed. Lots of dresses, nothing quite right. So I ran up to Darryl’s just before closing. Described my event- Darryl presented two perfectly beautiful dresses and I walked out with one of them feeling so pleased! (Something I never would have chosen for myself.). Talk about the perfect shopping experience. Darryl was so helpful and I left feeling like a million bucks. Beautiful shop, awesome owner. Coming back here felt like a pilgrimage… I remember feeling so chic and grown up when I first walked in the door twenty years ago and bought my first fancy dress for my sister’s wedding. And today, I felt the exact same way as I walked in looking to refresh my look in this next life chapter. Beautiful clothes yes, but spending time with Darryl is the real jewel here. Thank you for helping me feel glamorous again!
I went to Darryl’s looking for a snazzy suit to wear in homage to the subject of my forthcoming book about a 19th Century surgeon, feminist & cross dresser (I Could Not Do Otherwise: The Remarkable Life of Dr. Mary Edwards Walker if you’re interested). Darryl immediately brought me this suit which I probably never picked out on my own and the minute I put it on I knew it was perfect and fabulous! Darryl is the best. Thank you!
