Definitely more of an older bowling alley, but it's clean, staff is great. The door security, and Ally from the bowling alley is a great bartender. Our whole crew had a wonderful time playing and celebrating .
Mediocre service, outdated bowling alley, metal detectors at the door?? We waited 20-30 minutes for a lane ... Which I mean fine ... But we were there 2 hours and still there was like 8-10 wide open lanes ... And the prices?! This looks and feels like a "dive" bowling alley but they charge you so much for even one hour of bowling ... Will not be back sadly
Friday/ Saturday night this is the place to be! Although it is pricey I have to say staff was wonderful. The girl security at the door was so kind and patient with my disable mother and autistic son. She informed us they had a lounging area right behind her incase we needed a more quiet area. Will be returning.
TL, DR: Security didn’t let us in at 11, even though last entry is 11:30, completely ignored our presence instead of just informing us this as first time visitors Y’all can call me a Karen for this and that’s fine, but I do have some important information to share with people who are considering going to Diversey River Bowl. Me and 5 others arrived here on a Wednesday at 11pm to bowl for about 1 hour, so we were aiming to have left by an hour before their closing time. Upon arriving we noticed the doors were locked. Security were both on their phones so we thought they just didn’t see us. Then it became very obvious they were just ignoring us. We called the number because we wanted to know why this was the case as according to their hours, they were still operational for 2 hours. A woman answered and told us they should still be open for bowling, but she didn’t have any authority to tell security to let us in if they didn’t want to, which didn’t really make sense to us. She also didn’t say anything about a last entry time, and provided no explanation as to why security could be turning us away. She told me she would ask them. I literally watch her walk up to them and talk, and I thought at this point the security would acknowledge us even a little so hopefully someone could explain the situation. They still don’t look our way and just watched us on the security cameras. They don’t let us in, the woman walks away and doesn’t call back, and we were still left with no answers or explanation to why we were being kept out. An employee was taking trash bags out so we asked him what was going on. He told me that last call for bowling was “11pm” and that they couldn’t put this on Google Maps or something. At the time, this answered our question and that guy was nice, but we still felt like it was unprofessional and lazy for the security to not just tell us themselves. It gives a really a bad impression to us who had never been here before. Lo and behold, I look online today to verify that information, and the website says “No entry after 11:30pm”. 1) so the information I received from the employee was wrong and 2) we arrived well before 11:30 so we should have been let in. 3) why didn’t the woman tell us this on the phone? At the end of the day I know this is a private business and they have the authority to do whatever they want, but they should really follow their own rules or at least have more professionalism when dealing with potential customers, because many like myself would probably never come back again when faced with such unprofessionalism *shakes fist* 😆
I kept seeing the free bowling cards around Logan Square and I needed to find out if they worked - well, they do! Even though there was a league there practicing they had room for 4 to bowl. There’s no TV monitor so you don’t get the crazy animations there, only on the small scoring screen. Plenty of house bowling balls to use. The pizza was decent and very shareable! They even have a cute arcade where I won a duck! Tricky to find parking when it’s busy. But a lot of fun!
