I chose to use DryBar for my bridesmaid's and I to get blowouts before my wedding, and was pretty disappointed by the results. First, it was a nightmare to schedule our appointments; the first 4-5 times I called, I was told a manager would email me the details within a day or two, but I never received any emails. After several weeks of this, a manager finally called and got it worked out, but it was weird that it took so long to get to that point. Then the morning of, my stylist seemed very flustered, overwhelmed, and rushed, telling me she wouldn't have time to add a braid even though I had scheduled a blowout+braid appointment. Lastly, myself and at least 3 of my 7 bridesmaids had to completely redo our hair before the wedding because of how badly our hair turned out. The part in my hair wasn't even straight (and my hair parts very easily into a straight line), the curls were flat immediately, and the braid looked messy and lumpy.
Booked a same day appointment for 8am and the calendar showed plenty of availability. I leave my house early to get to the appointment. About halfway there, I get a text message from the salon saying that one of the Stylist was running late and could I do an 8:15 AM appointment? I responded that I would be there at eight as I had already left my house, but then I could wait as long as I was out by 845. I get no response and show up at 8 AM. I am asked if I want to have a glass of. I ask for a glass of water and go to the restroom. 815 rolls around And no update and no Stylist? I waited until it was a little after 820, at which point I realized that I would not be able to get my hair done in time to leave for work. I have to go find the receptionist to let her know that I have to leave. I get a very meek sorry and that is it as well as I will cancel the appointment. That is the absolutely least they could do as I now head to work with half wet, hair ahead of a day full of meetings.
I’m so disappointed because I love going to Dry Bar but I bought into the membership because I get a blow out 2 times a week (at least) today I was informed that not only is the membership increasing about $10 a month without notice but I will now also be charged an additional $30 every time I come in. This is on top of the monthly price because I have extensions. I was happy paying the additional $10 each time because I understand it takes longer to blow dry but $30+ each time on top of the membership fee increases seems ridiculous. None of it is going towards the stylist they get paid an hourly rate. I asked the front desk and they confirmed no one’s hourly pay was increasing. When I asked to speak to a manager or owner I was told that there is no one to call and this was a corporate thing they didn’t have control of. Needless to say I will likely be canceling my membership and looking for someone else to blow dry my hair 2-3 times a week.
Not the best blowout I’ve had. The curls dropped within 20 minutes. It seems like the stylists aren’t all the same caliber - the lady’s hair next to me turned out great.
The girls were wonderful 💯 they were so nice and ready to start when we arrived! They apply more hairspray for a good hold when asked, coffee and water is available! Highly recommend
