A 3 hour women’s self-defense class sounded daunting at first. However, I’m so happy we went. It was very informative and hands on. I definitely feel like I can use these skills if needed, if not for myself but for my family and children. Thanks again!
Goshin karate is a great place to do karate in Arizona, I say this because I obviously go there. The people there are really nice (students and teachers included) and karate genuinely became a safe space for me because everyone there is so welcoming. Our sensei can be a bit harsh but honestly what do you expect? If he wasn’t all these kids would be crawling up the walls. Oh and back to the safe space thing, it’s like they took all the good kids from school and put them in one place.
I have been a full time student with Mr. Boggs since I was 9 years old and I am soon to be 18 in the coming months. My longevity at this dojo truly shows my intention to not leave anytime soon. As I spend more time with Mr. Boggs, fellow students, as well as instructors over the years, I find myself feeling at home in the dojo. As I progressed through the ranks and grew up, Mr Boggs assigned me as an assistant instructor during the 2020 pandemic. Those few months we were closed, Mr Boggs and our team continued to teach the upcoming generation of black belts through Zoom and Youtube videos. I continue to teach as an Instructor to this day to full classes of intellectual students who are eager to learn. These students are not only taught martial arts and self defense, but respect for their elders, peers, as well as many other very important life lessons. If you had told 9 year old Becca that she would be a black belt and an instructor at the dojo she once dreamed to go to, she wouldn’t believe you. Mr Boggs not only helped me feel mass amounts of confidence in my self defense skills, but helped enhance the confidence in my own self as a young women. Mr Boggs has truly changed how I present myself and he will continue to do so as the 30 year old dojo continues to prosper.
A great martial arts school, Mr. Boggs works with the students to help them learn. Class sizes are usually small. The daily schedule rotates so you are learning doing new material every time you come.
The Goshin environment is that of family. Every class is taught with love and respect. The staff meet each student at their level while pushing them toward learning. Mr. Boggs runs a solid program that is clearly sequential and fully vetted. I recommend this school for any family looking to strengthen positive traits in their children.
