I love this place. All my rescue girls over the years have loved them. There has never been any problems getting them into the clinic. So I trust my dogs to tell me that the place is fantastic. They are also very compassionate during the hard times too. Dr Dexter is so wonderful. The staff... chef kiss. 5 stars & 2 paws up.
My 12yr old cat had a dental cleaning and they removed 2 teeth. He's always had issues after dental procedures, Dr. Quinbee (probably not spelling it correctly) was super honest and upfront about everything. She doesn't push you to do things you don't want to do and it's not a cash grab either. She's an incredible doctor and I'm super grateful to have found her for my cats care. The ladies who also help out in the back are super sweet too. It makes a difference, especially when you're an anxious animal owner. Thanks Doc + team for all your hard work.
I brought my puppy, Athena, to this clinic for an emergency visit after she had been vomiting and refusing food and water for two days, and had developed bloody diarrhea the night before. From the first visit, I felt the staff seemed unknowable, dismissive, and unconcerned about her condition. Despite her ongoing and worsening symptoms, I was told she was fine and to return only if things worsened. When Athena’s condition declined overnight, I brought her back for hospitalization and further testing. Unfortunately, when I picked her up later that day, she appeared to have deteriorated significantly. The following morning, I returned as instructed so she could continue receiving fluids. I expressed concern that her leg looked swollen around the IV site, but my concern was brushed off as the wrap being “too tight.” A new IV was placed in her other leg after I dropped her off. I also requested pain medication for her because she was clearly in distress, but that concern was also dismissed. Later, the staff informed me there was nothing more they could do and recommended either transferring her to an ICU facility or euthanasia. I chose to transfer her to an ICU vet. When I arrived to pick her up, I waited about 30 minutes before they brought her out. Sadly, she was limp, covered in feces, and in very poor condition. This was especially upsetting given that she was being treated for suspected leptospirosis and parvovirus—both of which tested negative—and I was told these illnesses could be spread through bodily fluids. To receive her back in such a state was heartbreaking, as she was already scared, sick, and unable to control her bodily functions. Her other leg was also swollen around the new IV site. Athena passed away on the way to the ICU. This was an incredibly devastating experience. It is heartbreaking to see a helpless puppy, who cannot speak or advocate for herself, receive such inadequate and dismissive care. I truly feel my puppy did not receive the attention, compassion, and urgency she deserved. I am deeply disappointed in the lack of professionalism and empathy shown by this clinic, and I would not bring another animal here in the future.
Recently brought in Auggie to bring him Up to date on his shots/ vaccinations. I've dealt with Dr. Pillsbury and have had dealings with her with my past dog. She is pleasant along with the staff. From my experiences over the years with our various pets, I trust Harper Woods Veterinary Hospital.
Dr. Nancy Pillsbury is the Goddess of the Animal Kingdom. We bow in her presence and kiss her ring to celebrate her glory. One day her face will be carved in stone at the top of Mount Rushmore, right next to the four guys who were also great Americans. Roll out the red carpet and let the orchestra begin whenever Dr. Pillsbury enters the room!
