Independence Gym is hands down one of the best training environments you will find. The atmosphere is motivating, the equipment is top notch, and there is plenty of variety no matter what style of training you are into. What really sets this place apart is the community. Everyone here is supportive and driven, which makes showing up something I actually look forward to. The staff keeps everything clean, organized, and welcoming, and you can tell they take pride in making this more than just a gym. It is a space where you can push yourself, grow, and feel part of something bigger. Of course there will always be others who do not agree with reviews, and that is their opinion. That happens everywhere. At the end of the day, the best way to know is to try it out yourself. I am glad I did, and I can honestly say Independence Gym has been an amazing place to train.
I have loved my time working out at Independence! The staff is always very friendly and helpful, the facility is always very clean, and the members practice basic gym etiquette. I highly recommend this gym if you are serious about working out.
Tried the 3 month membership. I enjoyed the equipment and the owner is a nice guy. The manager is rude and needs to go back to customer service 101 classes. She stopped me in the middle of my workout to show me the future fees. When I told her I needed a minute to process it and think about it, she said we will see you right after your workout. Needless, to say I gathered my work clothes and left right after. I felt embarrassed that she did that during my workout and she was not very friendly. She did not have to handle future members like that. I went a mile down the road to ANYTIME Fitness. They are very friendly, at Anytime Fitness.
This gym has been like a second home to me since 2013. It’s one of the best in the Valley, and I’ve built lasting friendships here. From great workouts to great conversations, I’ll always have love for this gym. The environment is respectful, with members who value proper gym etiquette, to staff that value genuine connection with members. This is something that sets it apart from many other gyms in the valley. I’m truly grateful to be part of this community.
Independence Gym in Scottsdale is much more than just a regular gym. It is a true temple of bodybuilding, with outstanding facilities, top-tier equipment, and an atmosphere that inspires every athlete to push their limits. The environment is both welcoming and challenging, perfect for those who take training seriously. I had the honor of visiting this iconic place and was surprised by an unforgettable experience. I personally met three giants of the sport: Derek Lunsford, Samson Dauda, and Brandon Curry, all Mr. Olympia champions and top-tier role models. They were training there with humility, focus, and kindness, proving that true greatness lies in those who inspire without needing to say much. Seeing these legendary athletes up close left a lasting impression on me. Derek, with his intensity and warmth; Samson, astonishing in both size and charisma; and Brandon, a perfect example of strength and grace combined. Independence Gym is not just a gym — it is where the legacy of bodybuilding continues to be written every single day.
