I appreciate the warm reception and thorough attention given to my unique needs as a patient. Juban Cowan's Dental staff took exceptional care in making sure all of my health concerns were addressed and that my visit and treatment was successful.
In early December, I visited for a cosmetic bonding procedure on one tooth that was pushed too far back ( as a way to save money and avoid braces ). My goal was to align it with my other teeth. The first attempt initial bonding resulted in the tooth being slightly too long and asymmetrical compared to the corresponding tooth on the other side. ( see attached photo for reference). I returned for a correction. During this visit, Dr. Michael Juban removed some gum tissue with a laser, stating it was to "make room for the composite bonding.” I specifically requested that the left side of my smile be made symmetrical with the right. Although the corrected tooth was now forward it appeared much larger than the adjacent tooth to which I was willing to just accept but my main concern was that the doctor removed too much gum tissue from my left central incisor. This was very noticeable because I have a "gummy smile." ( please see attached photo). When I pointed out the excessive gum removal, Dr. Juban immediately claimed, "that's always looked like that" and "you had that before I laser[ed] off any gums." I disagreed, stating that the gums on my two front teeth were always perfectly arched, and I know how my teeth looked. When he asked for a "before picture," I showed him a photo from the first bonding attempt, which clearly showed the perfectly arched gums on my two front teeth. ( see attached photo). He then became dismissive, saying, "well I’m not fixing to argue with you back and forth." Feeling anxious, I decided to just stay quiet and leave. He then simply instructed his assistant to refer me to a "gum specialist." He repeatedly complimented his own work, while I remained silent, wanting only to leave. I am upset mostly because he failed to take accountability or apologize for the excessive gum removal. Instead, he made it out to be as if I was imagining the issue, even after I had provided him with photo evidence.
Very professional. Dr. Juban and staff goes above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable and understand the procedure you are there for. By far the best dentist in Baton Rouge. I would highly recommend, especially if you have tried others in the area.
The best care I’ve ever received from a dentist office. From the receptionists to the dentist, everyone I came in contact with met me with kindness and helpfulness, and made the entire experience comfortable and easy. I never felt rushed or like I was asking too many questions. For the first time in my life, I’m looking forward to going back and getting work done on my teeth! Thank y’all for curing my fear of the dentist!
Juban Cowen Dental Care is a wonderful dentist office that truly cares for its patients. My son Austin and I are both patients, and I appreciate the exceptional care Austin receives, especially given his special needs. Jennifer Sanders, the dental hygienist, and Dr. Juban are amazing with him, always handling him with patience and kindness. Austin is always excited to come back because he brings a joke to each visit, and they make him feel like the next big comedian. Highly recommend this caring and friendly practice!
