The only place I stopped by twice on my trip to Montreal. Staff is friendly and helpful. But we need to talk about the bagel blt! I am still thinking about it now months later. I like the bagel. I love the filling. Wasn’t loving the coffee as much as the sandwich. But I did have the sandwich twice! It’s that good. One of the best bagels I’ve ever had. And the best bagel sandwich I’ve ever had.
fantastic food! i had the smoked salmon sandwich with kimchi and it is a marriage made in gustatory heaven. the krunch of cabbage and kimchi complement the smoky smoothness of the salmon. and because life is uncertain, i started with the most decadent cinnamon roll that i have ever tasted accomppanied by a good cappucino. while I'm still looking for an old fashioned cappi, with piles of foam (and no cute design), this coffee did the trick, balancing the richness of the cinnamon roll, and the spiciness of the sandwich. not cheap, but excellent and out of the ordinary! throw in friendly service and i will be returning to try other delights on the menu.
Only place I went to twice in my 4 days here. Frittata one day when did not want pastries. Light and fluffy, very nice with the goat cheese on it, otherwise very mild flavor. Nice sesame toast. The masala chai was a bit sharp, almost spicy rather than sweet to me, but it grew on me. Went back because yogurt and granola was appealing in all the heavy fare and I was a little sad I had missed it on my last visit. Really is as good as everyone says. The granola is loose, not clusters, wonderful flavor, and the yogurt is super light and fluffy, little sour which is offset by the granola and fruit. The lemonade was a surprise, tart and strawberry infused. I couldn’t help myself and got the breakfast danish too, didn’t make it through that. Quite good but the mustard flavor is quite intense, and I was frankly just full as it was more than I was needing but I couldn’t not try it.
we went here twice during our stay because it is so so lovely! the breakfast danishes are amazing, but so is all the other food items! great coffee! super friendly service and accommodating to us anglophones who failed to muster up the courage to speak french! merci et a bientôt
La Finca Café in Old Montreal looks amazing: green, cozy, and the kind of place you’d want to chill in. But the coffee and food? Not it. I ordered a cappuccino and ended up with a latte, no foam in sight. The chocolate cookie topped with sea salt sounded promising, but the heavy sprinkle of raw salt turned it into more of a sodium rush than a sweet treat. What really threw me off was the service speed. With four employees behind the counter, I figured I’d be sipping my drink in under five minutes, but that wasn’t the case at all. And then there’s the size... only one option, a “extra small” For $5+tax, I expected a bit more than a tiny cup. Quality didn’t make up for the quantity, and honestly, I walked away feeling shortchanged. The atmosphere is the best part of the café, no question. I just wish the coffee and cookie matched the vibe. Hopefully next time it’ll be a better experience.
