Probably just me, but I expected the children's nutcracker to start on time and I read there was no intermission. Would have been easier for my little if it started on time with no intermission. But performances were great and staff was friendly and helpful. No complaints.
The theatre is ill equipped to deal with individuals with handicap disabilities. We attended the mariachi festival this weekend. My husband is on a walker and the staff was not informed properly on giving us directions to ADA access. There were no wheelchairs available nor chairs to sit if necessary. We were expected to walk a considerable amount to a separate elevator that could hold only two individuals plus the staff member running it. There were many individuals, mainly elderly, with wheelchairs waiting for this sole elevator. Once we entered the theater, the staff was not prepared to assist us to our seats. We left during intermission. Overall, the experience was so stressful and do not recommend anyone with physical handicap disabilities to attend any functions in this theater. The city and the theater need to make considerable investments to comply with ADA requirements and basic needs.
It was great to experience the TCDA Middle School/Junior High All-State Choir conducted by Dr. B. E. Boykin. It’s easy to find the auditorium and bathrooms.
Attended a TCDA concert here and there wasn’t a bad seat! No matter where you sat, the view was perfect. Handicap was located on Balcony 1. The venue was clean and absolutely beautiful.
The Henry B and Lila Cockrell have always been good venues. Parking can be a challenge but that's true for all of downtown. We attended the 30th annual Mariachi Extravaganza featuring scholastic talent, and then the amazing Mariachi Vargas. Our SA has some great offerings!
