Disappointing Experience - Not Representative of Oak Cliff’s Values My daughter attempted to donate books to this store, but what should have been a simple act of generosity turned into an unacceptable experience. Without any explanation, an employee began kicking the boxes she brought. When she tried to get clarity on what was wrong, he raised his voice at her. I called the store, hoping to understand what happened and resolve the situation, but the same employee immediately started screaming at me and hung up the phone. This type of behavior is not the true character of Oak Cliff—a community where great food, art, exceptional customer service, and skilled craftsmanship thrive. We need businesses that embody the spirit of our neighborhood and can acknowledge when they’ve failed to meet basic standards of customer service. I hope this business will take this feedback seriously and make necessary changes.
Very friendly staff and lots of books. They have comfortable chairs to sit and browse books.
The staff was warm and welcoming with plenty of help to offer. There were endless selections and many good options of all genres to choose from. The cookies and their unique flavors offered toward the front caught both my mom’s and my eyes.
This bookstore was HUGE. You could easily spend a couple of hours here and not find every gem. That’s part of what made this place fun - but the organization was a bit haphazard. Prices were very affordable and we found a few books for our kids back home.
Lamento informar que mañana, 3 de mayo de 2018, la sucursal de Oak Cliff de Lucky Dog Books cerrará. Hoy fue mi primera visita y debo admitir que me sentí un poco emocionado/a al recorrer la tienda. Tengo recuerdos entrañables de librerías en el sur de California en los años 80 y 90... esta tienda está tan atiborrada, llena de rincones, sumamente cómoda y tranquila como recuerdo de aquellos otros lugares. Fui el único cliente allí durante más de una hora que estuve hojeando, lo cual supongo que explica por qué está cerrando. Las tiendas Casa Linda y Mesquite (Paperbacks Plus) siguen abiertas. ¡Por favor apoyen a las pequeñas empresas!
