They always have everything I need and I don’t have to leave the city. $53 for a large cart of firewood, $30 for a bundle of 10 fresh spruce tops. Everything is a good value.

Always torn about this place. It's a great little place that does big business, right in town. The plants were still looking great in mid July. There is bulk and bagged mulch, fresh sod, delivery service, quaint little store, etc. Yard staff are great. Wish I could give it a higher review, but from 15+ years of shopping there, I have to believe there is a negative work culture in the office pulling everybody down. More often than not it seems like I am an annoying pain in their butts for simply wanting to buy something from them. I really want to like this place more. Please retire or fire whoever is dragging the rest of the staff down. You could so easily be a 5 star resource.
I was referred to Magnuson sod- ordering was easy. Glen helped me with my order, I chose morning delivery. Got a call at 10am the following day from them stating they attempted my delivery but “could not locate my address” I confirmed my address and called back to give them the zip code to be sure. The plan was to get this done early before it got hot today- I called back to get an eta about 1030am. The representative tells me they have already been to my address today but my order will go out next. I asked if there were accommodations for late deliveries and asked to speak to a manager- manager gets on the phone speaking loud and aggressive, “I’m just going to cancel your order this is too much, I’m not giving you a discount. Asking me - what are morning hours? “ He goes on to tell me he will not deliver my dirt and will process the refund if I am not nice” This manager was ready to argue not accommodate, he continued to threaten to cancel my order when I did nothing wrong, he was very aggressive did not care to listen to me at all. He threatened me 3 times to cancel my delivery. I explained to him I have men waiting to lay this dirt but it has not arrived and I would appreciate if my order was fulfilled as I have paid for it- I had to wrap up the call by stating I will be waiting for my delivery, have a great day. I was man handled, lied too and told I needed to be nice to him to receive my paid for delivery. This was absolutely unacceptable, I will NEVER order from this company again!
Love love love! We used Magnuson sod for the third time and cannot say enough about the quality of their sod. Their sod is firmly rooted in what I believe is peat moss. As a result, the sod rolls are not overly heavy and easy to manage. Very easy to cut to shape. A key aspect to having success after your sod is in place; be sure your soil is conditioned. If you lay your sod on acidic soil, you're going to get poor results, no matter where you buy your sod. Check the soil pH and add lime and gypsum to get your soil just right. Also, place grub killer on the soil and water it in before placing your sod. A stop at Magnuson's is never complete unless you look through the selection in Klier's. Very unique garden life and stone for borders and such. Step indoors and their selection will amaze you. I believe they have the best selection of hose nozels in the TwinCities!
