Max and Louie’s Diner manages to pull off something special: it feels like a classic New York diner wrapped in unmistakable Texas hospitality. From the moment you sit down, there’s a comforting, old-school diner vibe—busy but welcoming, familiar without feeling dated. This isn’t a cheap eat, but it’s absolutely worth the occasional splurge when you want something satisfying and well done. I ordered the two pork chops plate with two sides. The chops were generously portioned and lightly seasoned with just salt and pepper, letting the natural flavor of the meat shine. While they didn’t quite have the grill marks shown in the menu photo, the taste more than made up for it—juicy, savory, and filling in the best way. My friend, who’s originally from New York, went with the Rachel sandwich and sweet potato fries. She loved it and was especially impressed by how authentic the New York deli feel was—from the flavors to the overall atmosphere. High praise from someone who knows the real thing. All in all, Max and Louie’s Diner is a great spot when you’re craving hearty food, generous portions, and a nostalgic diner experience—served with warmth and hospitality that feels distinctly San Antonio.
A great facsimile of a Long Island diner, with a massive menu of New York favorites. The basics are the best: Matzah ball soup, blintzes, chicken Parmesan, pickles and Cole slaw. There’s something for everyone, including melted cheese sandwiches with tomato soup, pastas, burgers, salads, a selection of pies and much more. Service was exceptionally friendly and quick, and thankfully the prices are more Texas than NY…
This place was great. Being from NYC, I felt like I was back home. It's pretty nostalgic, with many foods from NYC and items on the walls that reminded me of home. We were seated by the iconic picture of the Manhattan Bridge with the Empire State Building peeking through one of the towers. I had the chicken with French toast. I'm not sure what was in that syrup, I think it was homemade, but it made every bite enjoyable. My family were all nodding their heads in approval. We will definitely be heading back. Thank you.
Came in a Sunday morning very busy however able to get a seat for our 11 people group for outside pretty much immediately server was Abby parentheses I think) and she did great at accommodating us and checking in on us. Food came out fast and delicious from omelettes to waffles to pancakes, the bagels, the smoked salmon, bacon sausage everything tasted delicious. It’s about a $15-$25 entrée per person so not the cheapest experience however a great experience very inviting atmosphere. That definitely has that diner deli field of New York. Great foods large parking lot would highly recommend. Look forward to going back when I’m back in San Antonio.
This was our first time at the restaurant. They were inviting, the space was clean, and the front area provided a lot of delicious bakery items. The portions were huge, so keep this in mind when ordering. We ordered a Rueben and a classic turkey club. So thick we couldn’t eat in one bite. The bread, although made fresh daily was a bit too hard for my liking. Overall the friendliness, portion, and something different makes it a great place to stop.
