I recognize that this location serves only as a UPS drop-off point and not a full UPS store. However, I brought in a package that needed a small piece of tape to secure it, and the employee refused to provide or apply any tape. Considering this is a craft store stocked with tape in virtually every aisle, the refusal was unnecessarily unhelpful and frankly baffling. It shouldn’t be unreasonable to expect basic assistance with a simple request that would ensure a safe and successful shipment.
I am a fan of michaels, but usually go to hobby lobby, mostly because the howe bout arden parking lot sucks on a good day. Last night, I needed a couple of things for my first grader’s project, so on a whim, we went to michaels. Holy moly did I regret it. So, I love bows. I mean, I LOVE bows. But $35 for a bow is shocking. Also, why is there so much freaking glitter everywhere? For the 15 minutes we were shopping, I said two phrases repeatedly: “No, don’t touch that, glitter!” & “Where the hell are the poster boards?!” In the end, I managed to find a black poster board. (Is $10 normal?) and a nutcracker for my son to paint and give to me for christmas. Then things went downhill… We got in line, with maybe 5-7 people in front of us, and one cashier. No biggie. A few minutes later, an employee/manager began to try to usher people to the self checkout registers. It’s hard to explain, but the self checkout registers were in between the girl working checkout and the front of the line, with little space to get behind them, especially if both had carts. (Not at all relevant, but it could use some adjustments.) Now, my opinion is that if I wanted to work at a store, I’d apply and get paid to work the register. I don’t work there, so unless you want me to scan every other item without risk of repercussions, then an employee can check me out. Also, those things always freak out on me and I need an employee to come help anyways. So, like I was saying, I’m about 5-7th in line, and very quickly there was at least 10 (transactions/parties) behind me. Person after person left the line to attempt self checkout, and about half were successful. The rest squeezed back into line to wait. Fast forward like 15 minutes, and I’ve been second in line for more than 5 minutes, and that employee/manager is still wandering around, ushering people to self checkout, looking over the cashier’s shoulder and looking out at us in line. You know how there’s always silly little impulse buy things in line? I wanted to start picking them up and throwing them at this guy while using colorful language to encourage him to open another register. And I wasn’t alone in these feelings. Dude. I get that you were clearly a superior, but do your part to knock down the line and get people on their way, don’t make it worse by chatting up the cashier and the customers she is helping. I won’t be back to this location… In case anyone was wondering… :/ Update: the little nutcracker kid’s painting craft was such poor quality I will be returning it. I guess I will be returning to that location… but I’m not excited.
I visited Michael’s today for some Christmas shopping, and the experience was extremely disappointing. I noticed that many items are priced about $3 higher in-store compared to online, and while I understand that online promotions may differ, the store allows you to order in-stock items online for same-day pickup. I found the item I wanted and asked if the store could match the online price. I was told they could not due to company policy. I then asked if I could simply purchase the item on my phone and pick up the exact product I was already holding. They told me I had to do it that way—so I placed the order while standing at the register. After I paid, the system suddenly went down and the store claimed they could not locate my order, despite the fact that I had the confirmation email, my phone, and the receipts. The employees even watched me place the order in real time. The entire situation was frustrating and felt completely avoidable. This was honestly one of the most ridiculous shopping experiences I’ve ever had. I won’t be returning, and I hope the company reconsiders these policies because this is a joke.
I had never been to this location, so I thought I would give it a whirl. It was pretty cool in there. I was able to get a few things I wanted and look at somethings I will pick up in the future. The employees are super helpful. It seems like Michael's is trying to do away with human contact or help which sucks so bad. I hate that for us. But I will diff be going back. Until next time guys. ✌🏿
The Michaels in Arden Arcade is one of the best organized stores they have. In most of the Michaels stores I have visited, I will find some items mixed with something not supposed to belong there. Sometimes the price tag is missing in the other stores. But it is not a problem in this store. The management does a good job. The parking lot is jam-packed here even on the weekday. It's pretty hard to find parking near the store on the weekends.
