Membership and cancellation is a scam. I attended a free intro class and then was offered to join a two month half off trial. Not only was I lied about that it was going to be full membership , they kept on charging me after two months and did not cancel the membership despite me calling them to cancel the membership. They continued to charge for another month before I told them again to cancel it.Their free intro class cost me 540$. So I will highly recommend to clear the membership and cancellation policy as they are quite dubious.
My kids and I have been going to MKG for over a year now. We tried a few other places before deciding on MKG. I was specifically looking for a place that had great coaching and skill development for youth. The youth coaches are fantastic and the curriculum hits on a lot of different skills and has both cardio and strength training components. The coaches are responsive, skilled, and create an environment of focused learning and fun for all levels. My kids like to practice their kali stick patterns together at home for fun without being asked. Also, the gym itself is very inclusive. I take an adult class while my kids have class, and because there are so many long-time students who are happy to teach newcomers the basics, it feels like a private lesson every time I go. Classes are both a physical and mental workout, so it’s a phenomenal way to forget about a stressful day at work. Another plus is they are really flexible with the membership. We took a break this winter because my kids were on a speedskating team, and it was very easy to pause the membership and pick up where we left off. We really enjoy being members of the MKG community.
My daughter takes their youth classes and is absolutely beaming and excited after every hour spent with their instructors. Joe, Tim, and Kyle are truly wonderful humans who have found a perfect balance between instructing, inspiring, encouraging discipline and excellence but injecting the air with humor and kindness. We are transplants to the area and coming from LA I can say this type of environment for kids to learn about themselves, be in their bodies, and connect is a rare thing. Everyone from the front desk staff, to the other folks taking adult classes and as mentioned the amazing instructors are just an absolute joy to be around. Good vibes abound. These people will bring a smile to your face and inspire you and your family.
My experience of MKG is primarily based on seminars held in the UK and hosted by Guro Rick Faye and his excellent team consisting of Guro Linda Ramsay. While I'm not an actual member, I feel I have been welcomed into the family just as any other member might be. The seminars are second to none, with experienced guidance in different disciplines of martial arts. I can wholeheartedly recommend the MKG family for anyone looking to start their journey in Martial Arts
This gym is great for all levels and of skill and intensity. It has a friendly welcoming atmosphere that is geared toward fitness and learning for beginners all the way up to people who want to spar. The wide range of different arts and teachers keeps it fun and makes it easy to find what you like and what suits you.
