I find myself seated on the patio of Mission Coffee in South Gilbert. The morning is a quintessential fall morning in Arizona- low seventies without a cloud in the sky. The patio is well shaded, and I’m ready for our summer to end. Today I ordered my usual, a cappuccino, in a mug, slightly dry, with a croissant. I opted for a second cappuccino with a touch of Missions house made cardamom rose syrup. The barista was kind to offer me a stand alone shot to sample the coffee roast. The service was very pleasant, and the Mission offered a great location of both interior and outside seating. What I really appreciated was the Missions commitment to sourcing from the growers. Fantastic. Regrettably, the Missions vission is lost from the bean to the cup. Two thirds into my cappuccino and I had yet to experience the coffee, as the milk foam was clearly dominant. And while the syrup of the second cappuccino was certainly tasty, I am a sucker for all things cardamom, the coffee again played a minor role. I can say the croissant was one of the better croissants I’ve had in the East Valley. However, I am certainly about the coffee over the pastry. I’d like to give Mission a second chance as I am totally on board with their support of the grower. That said, Mission will have to invest the same passion in the craft as they do in the bean if their Mission intends to continue the fight. Enjoy
Checked out Mission Coffee & Tea, finally, and it did not disappoint. I ordered a Vanilla Latte and my friend ordered the Nitro coffee. She has been here many times before and raves about it, I just hadn’t gotten around to trying it. It’s an open space without feeling like you’ll be lost in trying to have a conversation, super clean, and the baristas are welcoming and friendly. My latte was ridiculously good, with just the right amount of sweetness. Their coffee is clean and light, and doesn’t have that “heavy” or “burnt coffee” taste that most larger chains have. I’ve been back a few times since and it has become my favorite spot to grab a coffee. Pricing is right on par with the quality they offer. Highly recommend checking it out if you haven’t!
This is a really nice cafe! The layout is open and spacious. There is lots of seating and even an upstairs loft that can be rented out, or is used for quiet work time when not rented. They have several food options and many tasty drinks. I was glad they carried so many sugar free syrups. The staff is nice and will help you find a drink that fits your needs.
First-Time Visitor, Lasting Impression... My wife and daughter recently told me I had to check this place out, and as a huge coffee lover, I'm glad I did. This was my first visit, and it definitely won me over. We came for an early morning coffee date right when they opened, and the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. I ordered the white mocha latte, which was delicious. For my next visit, I'll probably add some caramel to make it a little sweeter, which is just my personal preference. I also got the bacon breakfast sandwich on a bun, and it was cooked perfectly. It was a great first impression, and I'm already looking forward to my next visit.
This place is my new go-to! I was looking for a spot to get some work done and stumbled upon this gem. The first thing I noticed was how incredibly spacious it is. Unlike a lot of other coffee shops where you're crammed in, there's plenty of room to spread out, a session of gift shops and the seating options are varied, from comfy armchairs to large communal tables. The atmosphere is quiet and calming, perfect for focusing. I ordered a Lavender Matcha Latte and a Sausage Burger. The matcha was absolutely fantastic—creamy, rich, and with a perfect balance of earthy sweetness, not too bitter or overly sugary. The sausage burger was a pleasant surprise. It was juicy and flavorful, with a perfectly toasted bun and a savory patty that hit the spot. It was a simple and satisfying meal that combination of a great drink, delicious food, and the wonderfully spacious environment makes this cafe a winner in my book. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a great coffee (matcha drinks) comfortable space!"
