We have used Moon Vally a couple of times for our plants, whether that was us picking up something or having them install. They have always been fantastic and Houghton Peterson was very knowledgeable in ensuring we got the right plants for what we wanted to do. Plus, he made it fun and enjoyable and not stressful. Didn't push or pry. The plants we've gotten from here have always been in top shape and have transitioned well. We will continue to get our plants from here!
Called them because I had a couple trees in my yard that needed some attention. I also added a bunch of trees/shrubs etc. My total bill was over $16K. To begin, it took longer than expected to get the new trees put in. I was expecting a couple days, but it was longer. After they planted the new trees, I had the irrigation system overhauled. Those folks (irrigation people) wondered why they (Moon Valley) hadn't been more careful with the previous irrigation lines. Some of it could have been salvaged, so their lack of care cost me extra money to to have it replaced. Within a day or so, of planting despite due diligence,, some of the shrubs were not looking good. After numerous calls, I finally got my sales rep to come out and look. Despite some of the shrubs looking pretty crappy, he said they will survive (which means I will have to wait a year or so for them to look okay if they do indeed survive). Despite the reps help with fertilizer, there was still a vital element missing. The original reason I went to Moon Valley was to get help for the trees I already had and were/are looking brown. At that point, 6 weeks after I paid for the service, I still didn't even have a date that they were going to come out. Finally I got one and it was 12/1/25. Considering that I paid on September 13, it's not much to ask to have services rendered in a timely fashion. I was irate. Lo and behold, the following day, I got another message saying they wouldn't be out until 12/19/25! Three months after paying! When I voiced my displeasure, they basically told me to "too bad". I opted to cancel at that point. They told me I couldn't cancel through them, I had to cancel through my rep. After multiple attempts to cancel and get a refund, my rep has completely ghosted me. I spent a small fortune to get my yard looking good. Not only is it a subpar result, they robbed me of the joy my yard brought (and the money I paid for services never rendered). Now all I see when I look at the trees is how I got taken advantage of. Thanks for ruining my sanctuary. $16k and I can't stand to be out there anymore. Shame on you. Once they have your money, you cease to exist. Avoid at all costs.
Aaron R. was the most amazing and helpful rep I have ever encountered at a nursery. It was my first visit in 5 years here and he made it an incredible experience. His knowledge is top notch and he offered very helpful advice. The plants were loaded and the best part was their sale. Normally these cheese wood (Pittosporum) shrubs are $400 each but now on sale for $100 each. I hope I dont get him in trouble, but he was kind enough to throw in a couple of bonus items on the house which will most definitely keep me coming back. Aaron, I simply cannot thank you enough for your professionalism. You actually made my day!! Best of luck to you and keep up the great work.
I purchased a fruit tree from Moon Nursery a few months ago, only to discover it had a fungal disease shortly after planting. When I returned to the nursery about three weeks later to explain the issue, I noticed several of their other trees were already showing similar signs of disease — clearly, this wasn’t an isolated problem. Instead of standing behind their product, they offered me some fungicide products to try fixing the issue myself and said they’d only give me 50% off a new tree. That’s unacceptable customer service for a tree that was sold already infected. Save yourself the trouble and money — do not buy from Moon Nursery. I won’t be returning.
