The non-dairy, vegan (cashew-based) ice cream flavors I tried at Mr. Dewie's were very good and much more nutritious than other non-dairy ice creams. The chocolate was great and the banana-walnut was fine. The cashew base provides healthy unsaturated fats instead of heart-disease-promoting saturated fats in coconut-based products. I wish there was a location near me so I could try more flavors!
A delightfully quirky vegan ice cream place in a Bohemian artsy part of Oakland. This is very distinctly in the spirit of the Bay Area, and as such, I am pleased that my friend brought me here when I visited her in Oakland. The lighting is quite welcoming, bright and pastel without being too overwhelming, and the flavors are quite varied and seasonally dependent. I had a half of a scoop of pumpkin pie and the other half of apple pie. It is a pleasant and carefree place that is a delight to visit, and the ice cream is significantly better than I expected.
love me some dewies! props to this local business for being entirely vegan and GF 💜 this location is very cute, but no soft serve. my fav flavor is strawberry. matcha is a close second. the ice cream is made of cashews so i don’t feel as much of a sugar crash because it’s rich in healthy fats and maybe some protein? could be delusional.
Five stars you have to try the fresh strawberry it is so tasty strawberry it’s so so fresh and good but I love about Mr. Darius is so nice and they’re always nice so if you wanna try something like so nice five stars again and the best ice cream place I’ve ever gone you gotta go to the Oakland one. -Kobe (age 9- my son)
Bliss for the lactose-intolerant, the vegans, and everyone else, actually!! Instead of being unable to enjoy ice cream, or being stuck with the one or two sad non-dairy flavors most upscale ice cream parlors offer, the ENTIRE MENU is non-dairy, oh hallelujah. AND!! If making a flavor choice is too darn difficult, it is possible to get 3 flavors in one cup — just ask for a full scoop + a split scoop. 🍨❤️
