We drove down and from the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was calm and exactly what we hoped for. Each moment (even the tears) was met with nothing less than acceptance and compassion. If Vern ever had a moment feeling like “omg this kid is a lot” … we never saw it. He really just poured into our child, and us; calm, compassion, love, and most importantly humanity. We weren’t treated like butts in seats. Our son was treated like a child who was struggling to learn something new and had big emotions about it. After all was done, we went on our way and our son was back to smiling like nothing happened. The next day, my husband tried what Vernon suggested with clippers at home and our son actually sat and was calm for the most part as he pretended to clip thru our sons hair, then our son handed my husband play scissors and we let him pretend to cut our hair and he thought it was cool! We will be back 💕 and HIGHLY recommend.
My son who has ADHD, got a haircut here by a barber named Vernon. I was waiting in a chair while he was getting a haircut. The unspeakable things Vernon did to my son left me in shock. My son was moving a bit but he wasn’t making any noise. Vernon told him to stop moving, my son understood and stopped. But then my son was humming and this distracted the barber. So Vernon told him to stop humming, he complied. But all of the sudden my child starts crying because the barber is strangling my child to the chair because he kept moving because he was panicking. I immediately went to my son, payed for the unfinished haircut, and left. Never coming back.
My son is autistic, so certain things can be challenging, like getting a haircut. Vernon does a great job working with my son, figuring out what works for him and getting a good cut done before my son realizes what even happened. Highly recommend Vernon services, he's worth every penny!
