I've driven by this place many times but never thought to go in. It wasn't until I was craving breakfast and looking at the great reviews that I stopped in. Everyone is correct - this place is old school delicious. The pancake is the size of an entire dinner plate and definitely add the blueberries. The hash browns are the bomb and the ham slice was large. There's an array of hot sauces plus ketchup on the counter. Yep, tiny so either go on a weekday or know it's worth the wait.
Was finally able to get in and try this spot after it had gone “viral”. Wait times where getting out of hand, and we managed to come on a day where there was “only” a 30 minute wait. I didn’t understand the hype, I mean, small diner? one cook? The food can’t be worth the wait that bad can it? Well, it isn’t. I mean, anything more than 30 minutes and I’m looking elsewhere. BUT, if you manage to get seated and have the food, then just know that it is really good. Their hash browns are actual hash browns and taste great. Eggs and toast where good too. The bacon is extra crispy just the way I like it. Coffee is pretty bad though. Burnt drip coffee. Despite that, it’s a great breakfast spot for 2 or 3 if you can get in early!
Great cooked-to-order breakfast spot! The portions are incredibly generous. The omelet was full of cheese and ham and I couldn’t finish the tasty, chunky hash browns. It has a tiny interior seating area (just counter seating) and tables for larger parties are available outside. I wouldn’t attempt to bring a party greater than four. Our party of two was seated immediately, but we also arrived at 7:45am in a Saturday. There is one cook and one grill, so be ready to be patient for your food. Ours took about 30 minutes to arrive after ordering, but it was unique and excellent.
You'll find a fantastic breakfast at Our Kitchen in South Minneapolis. A family-owned and award-winning hole-in-the-wall diner since 1941. The portions are large to fuel your morning and prices are competitive. The staff is very friendly and accomodating. I had an omelet with hash browns and one of co-owner/chef Danny's giant pancakes. The best part of my visit was being able to sit at the counter and watch Danny cook. It's a hole in the wall so expect a short wait. You're going to have a very good meal. I sure did.
Super cute spot - tiny, cozy diner vibes. The staff are great, really friendly and attentive. We loved our food and the whole experience, would definitely recommend! It does get busy, so expect a wait if you go around a “popular” breakfast/brunch time.
