Nothing but great things to say about our very first visit to this storied establishment in Old St. Matthews. Young woman behind the counter was very and patient as we made our donut selections. Apple fritter was delicious as we're the cake old fashions. Busy place just before Christmas.
I had a very last minute custom 2 tier cake. They were able to accommodate me less than a week away from my event for 60 people! The cake was exactly like my inspiration photos, and they went above and beyond on getting colors that matched. The cake was the best vanilla cake I’ve ever had, and was beautiful. I am new to the area and won’t be going anywhere else for cakes!
I usually don’t write reviews, but Plehn’s Bakery truly deserves one! I ordered a cake for my sister’s gender reveal, and it was absolutely perfect. The cake was so fresh and delicious, with just the right balance of sweetness. The whip was light, creamy, and simply amazing – everyone loved it! Not only did it look beautiful, but it tasted even better. Thank you, Plehn’s, for making such a special occasion even sweeter!
Friendly service. We didn't know we should pull a number to get in the queue, but they helped us when we approached the counter. We got the Apple Fritter, raspberry thumbprint, chocolate chip cookies, and an orange blossom. Everything was pretty good, but the raspberry kolache was especially good.
What a treat. It’s an old school bakery that is celebrating 100 years in business. The selection is great, from cakes to pies to donuts to other sweets. I went in with donuts in mind and ended up with a bear claw and a cream filled eclair. Both were excellent. I want to come back and try many other things. The service was fast and friendly. Go support this staple in the community.
