My boyfriend and I took his mom to dinner. This was my boyfriend's and my first visit to Porterhouse. We started with the blackened tenderloin tips appetizer, which all of us liked. They were cooked and seasoned well and came with a good sauce (which was just a bonus- rhey were delicious without it). Salads were fine. Bread was good. His mom and I both had the petit filet and my boyfriend got the ribeye. Both filets were overcooked (I ordered mine medium, she ordered hers medium-well, neither had any pink). The ribeye was "pretty good." He said it he wished it had more of a crust/sear. Cheesy mashed potatoes were good. We tried the espresso martini, pomegranate martini, lemondrop martini and an old fashoned. They were all good and the martinis came with the shaker which was basically a whole extra drink. Our service was great! Atmosphere was good. Overall, for the pricepoint, it was ok.
I would not recommend reservations over 4 people, or at least plan a buffer of 30-45 minutes from your reservation time, since they don’t have a lot of big tables, and no time limits on their tables, so you’re at the mercy of when the other guests want to leave. The staff will make the wait worth while and will attend to your every need. The food and ambience is more of an old school Supper Club vibe. The menu has plenty of options to please everyone at the table. Bread came out to the table to appease the munchies. I had the French Onion Soup which is one of the better ones I’ve tasted. Up next, the Nova Scotia Twin Lobster tails, with mashed potatoes with cheese and bacon. Follow me for more reviews and let me know what I should try next.
This place is phenomenal the food is amazing and the service is top notch! The staff was amazing and always on top of everything. The king crab was incredible. Our server Sarah was incredibly helpful and friendly. Will be back again!
Very nice location. The service was great and the atmosphere was very relaxing yet high end. The bartender knew repeating customers and had a good report with everyone. My waitress was very helpful and didnt come across as "put out" by my questions about the steak. The cut of beaf was beautiful thick cut but seemed much more like a sirloin than Riley as there was very little marbling throughout. I was told the steak was dry aged for over 20 days but it was not as tender as other dry aged steaks I've had. The potatoes were perfect with the dill and the bacon dressing for the salad was delicious (highly recommend). I would like to go back for another go. They oysters were also fresh and had good flavor.
I wanted to take my wife out for a date night, and we decided to finally try Porterhouse. We managed to grab an early reservation at the time we wanted, but when we arrived, the staff couldn't find our names in the system. That's when we realized we had accidentally booked at their Lakeville location. Thankfully, they were still able to seat us, which we really appreciated. Our server, Asia, was fantastic, very attentive and always checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. The menu is definitely focused on steak and seafood, so if that's not your thing the options are limited, but that was fine with us. The decor stood out to me, especially the old-style photos of cattle on hooks, which gave the place a unique touch since it's a steakhouse. For appetizers, we ordered the Cajun walleye strips, which were fresh and full of flavor. My wife went with the petite filet mignon, while I tried the crab-stuffed Atlantic salmon. Both dishes were excellent, and everything came out hot and well prepared. The booths were comfortable, the vibe was relaxed but upscale, and the overall atmosphere made it feel perfect for a date night. As for dress, I saw a mix of casual and business casual outfits from other guests. Since it's more of a fine dining spot, we were both dress casual, we normally do business to dress casual when we choose fine dining. The restaurant is easy to get to, right off 35E and Little Canada Road, just minutes from Hwy 36 and 694. Parking is a little tight, so I'd recommend arriving early to grab a spot. Overall, between the service, food, and atmosphere, we had a wonderful evening here and will definitely be back.
