They helped me with my severe anxiety and depression one day. They’re amazing people and work wonderfully with their horses
I visited 5 boarding facilities before choosing Red Horse Ranch for my mare. Dave and Lisa care deeply for the horses and boarders and are always going above and beyond to make sure the horses receive the best care. The other boarders are kind, laid back people who respect their horses and the shared space and help make spending time at the ranch a joy. The facility itself has beautiful land and trails - there is plenty of space to explore and exercise with your horse as well as multiple round pens and an outdoor arena that is never crowded. I am so grateful for our time at Red Horse, and while we recently moved, I’d move my girl back in a heartbeat if I can’t find equally quality care. Thanks a million, Dave and Lisa!
Great place & great people.
In this crazy covid-19 time my family has been fortunate enough to be able to work remote through the whole darn thing. And though we are grateful for this, our world got pretty small pretty fast, and we could especially feel the impact on our very busy, very social toddler... So we decided to pack up our little airstream and head north to shelter in place, and work remote with our extended family... so we could have some company, and our daughter could have more social connection. This was only possible because my brother-in-law was able to stay at our house and care for our little hobby farm in our absence. ...And of course, for the first time in 6years one of my mini donkeys, sweet Ruby-Jean, suffered a hoof abscess and was in great pain. And we were 2000 miles away! Our farm isn’t set up with a dry stall, and Ruby, though very people friendly, is not halter trained or super comfortable with hoof care. She has not been trailered anywhere (we don’t even have one!) in the 6years that we’ve had her. Meaning this was an impossible task for my brother- in-law to take on solo. So we jumped through some hoops and got her to Sunset Canyon (who helped us problem solve, and gave her great care) for a 10 day stay. She was all better and returned to the farm. Big relief, though with a big price tag attached. And then a week of rain hit... and the abscess came back along with sleepless nights for me :/ Sending Ruby back to Sunset Canyon was not a financially feasible option, so instead we looked for a boarding facility that might be willing to take on an injured tenant for the remainder of our trip. That’s when I found Dave at Red Horse Ranch! First, he answered the phone! Second, he was calm, thoughtful, and willing to consider helping Ruby. After a discussion with his wife Lisa they agreed to board her with a dry stall for the month at a fraction of what it would cost to board her at the vet. They also agreed to host the vet (Erin at Sunset Canyon is great!), and take on any care instructions she provided. This ended up meaning daily soaks, and wraps for nearly 2weeks, so no small thing, especially with an animal unused to being haltered and handled! ...and did I mention that Dave himself came to the farm with his trailer and worked with my brother in-law to get a scared and injured Ruby loaded and transported back to Red Horse Ranch?? AND then returned her to the farm when her 30+ day stay was over?? I just can’t tell you what a relief it was to know that Ruby was safe, loved, and healing in my absence. Dave even sent me a video of Lisa loving her, and the progress on her hoof abscess. It was incredibly stressful to be so far from home with a “family member” struggling. I really feel like Dave and Lisa went above and beyond the normal services they provide to help out a “neighbor”... which makes me proud to live in this community, and all warm and fuzzy inside, and I just cannot recommend them enough! As for Miss Ruby-Jean-Don’t-Take-Your-Love-To-Town... she is fully recovered and very happy to be reunited with her soulmate, Bubba. She’s also happy to have her mom home at last :)
Beautiful facilities and setting in hill country. Lots of trails to escape the everyday grind. And they had mini horses!
