I had a fantastic stay at Safety Harbor Resort and Spa. The facilities have a wonderful history dating back to the 1920s that bring the charm of the town together. The place seems to be rooted in a history of healing and wellness — and you can feel it and experience it! I loved making the most of the saunas, mineral pool, jacuzzis and weight room. The staff was so kind, too, even going so far as to shipping my charger back to me!
We spent a Saturday at Safety Harbor Resort & Spa for a distributor wellness retreat and had an outstanding experience. The entire day was well organized, relaxing, and genuinely beneficial for team connection. From the workshop to the massages and access to the mineral pools, sauna, and steam room, everything flowed smoothly and felt intentional. The spa amenities were excellent, and the atmosphere was calm and welcoming. Kimberly, the Sales Manager with The Spa Wellness Group, was exceptional to work with. She was professional, attentive, and ensured every detail was handled properly. Highly recommend Safety Harbor Resort & Spa for corporate wellness retreats or anyone looking for a high-quality spa experience.
We were there as part of an Annual Meeting for our company. We used the Conference Center as well as hotel rooms, meal catering, restaurant and lounge. We worked with Donovan for all of the special arrangements and he was great, very personable. The conference center worked out perfectly for our presentations and breakout sessions. The meals that we had served by their staff were very nice. The omelet station was very nice with many ingredient options. The fresh fruit and pastries were fresh and tasty. We had both hot and box lunch options over the course of 4 days that were also great. The restaurant and hotel lounge were another story. We had reservations for about 20 people on a Saturday evening, split between two tables. Our table which included the owner, her husband, two consultants, and 5 others was seated at 6:30 and we didn't get our food until 8:30. Took almost 30 minutes to get our drinks after we sat down. Our other table was finishing their dessert by then. Several of the steaks were also very over done. I ordered a medium rare filet but got one that was very well done. The woman who was working in the hotel lounge that night was probably the rudest person I've ever encountered particularly in a position to be tipped. People at both of our tables got their own drinks sometimes because of the time factor. We kept hearing about the woman who was really not nice and I experienced it for myself unfortunately. I asked for a Chocolate Espresso Martini (which the owner had gotten with no issues from the side bar that the wait staff used). You would've thought I asked for a drink with ingredients from outer space. She said, I've never heard of anything like that, I just don't know if I can do that, and on and on. I'm not exaggerating. I've never seen anything like it. She got a "tad" nicer at the very end. I asked for a Whitehaven Sauvignon Blanc (which again I'd gotten the first time with no issue from the dinner waitress) and she sighed and said they never keep me stocked with that so I got the Kim Crawford which was not a problem. To their credit, management credited us for the dinner and also comped some drinks. We had a major snafu at the front desk as three of my coworkers were trying to check in. It ended up getting worked out after Donovan was called but we were being told they only just one night reserved instead of 4. The location is fantastic, right on the Water and lots of other food spots and shops to visit there at Safety Harbor. I live in the Clearwater area so I didn't have a room there. They seem to be so over the map when it comes to their Customer Service. Maybe it's a training issue, hiring in the hospitality is challenging no doubt but they clearly need to make it much more of a priority across all areas of their resort.
Thalia single-handedly restored our faith in Safety Harbor Spa. My family has been coming to this spa for 30 years, and I’ll be honest, the past few visits and interactions had left a really sour taste in my mouth. Especially around the holidays, when I purchased gift cards for my mom, the customer service was disappointing. From ordering, to paying, to picking them up, I truly felt like an inconvenience rather than a valued guest. It was so bad that my family and I were genuinely discussing switching to a different spa next year. Then I spoke with Thalia… and everything changed. In just one phone call, she completely won back our loyalty. She was warm, patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely kind. She helped me book a mother-daughter spa day for my mom and me and made the entire experience feel special again. She was an absolute treat to talk to and reminded me why we’ve loved this spa for decades. Whoever leads customer service and training should be using Thalia as the gold standard. She is exactly how guests should be treated, and she represents your brand beautifully. Thank you, Thalia, for saving the day and bringing us back.
My family and I have now enjoyed Safety Harbor Resort’s Thanksgiving Buffett for 5 years in a row now. The talented Chef definitely deserves a big raise. I love everything about Safety Harbor from the kind and accommodating staff who go out of their way to help with anything and everything to the beautiful rooms with access to the outside pool. The delicious tiki bar serving great drinks and food offerings is really convenient. Best of all are the spa amenities including an indoor pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. The peaceful, quaint town and many restaurants are within walking distance. As a wheelchair user, I have to compliment the resort on their great accessibility including a shower chair and lift at the indoor pool and multiple wheelchair ramps throughout the resort. My in-laws from the United Kingdom really enjoyed their stay and felt right at home thanks to all of you. The only thing I asked is that you bring back the day passes that used to be offered with the purchase of a gift card because they are so appreciated. Please ignore the negative reviews because this resort is constantly improving itself for guests.
