We learned here when our kids were four years old. I couldn’t believe how much our teacher, Mrs Ophie made our kids feel confident and pass through the CM tests. We hope she can teach for long and make our kids better and better over the years.
Great place to start your music journey. Teachers are dedicated and great with kids. Would highly recommend the academy and the teachers.
We’ve been part of San Jose Academy of Music for four years, and it has been a fantastic experience. The teachers are highly proactive and genuinely dedicated to their students’ growth. To prepare students for future performances, the school organizes two recitals each year. We highly recommend this school—the teachers are passionate about music education and truly inspire their students to take it seriously. Our children’s teachers, Ms. Ophelia, Ms. Eva, Ms. Grace, and Mr. Miguel, are amazing!
My 8 year old had taken violin lessons elsewhere for 9 months before she switched to Mr. Joe at SJAM, for need of an MTAC registered teacher. Over the next few months, we noticed the emphasis he made on perfecting her scales, approach to note reading, posture, care for the instrument, etc, that helped lay a strong foundation. It took time, but the results were far worth it. She aced her 1st CM exam! SJAM is a great music school with extremely qualified teachers. Mr. Joe is a very talented and dedicated teacher. He is great with kids, and his passion for music is contagious. He helps the student reach their potential through encouragement and by making it interesting and challenging. We are so glad we made the switch, and we are truly grateful for teachers like him!
Our son has been learning Piano at SJAM since 2014 when they were originally located at Point Church. For the first 3 years, he learnt under the guidance of Ms. Leah who is super engaging with little children and had made music fun to learn. Since 2017, he has been learning with Mrs. Ophelia, who is the Director of SJAM. Mrs. Ophelia is an incredible teacher. Our boy has grown tremendously in his musical abilities under her guidance. She stresses on the importance of correct technique at a young age and really works 1:1 to ensure that the child is successful. She is very patient and really strives for excellence. Working with her, our boy has taken on competitive exams and has had the opportunity to perform festival recitals at the California Music Teacher Convention. He continues to learn and grow there! More recently after the pandemic , they opened their own studio location. Though smaller than their previous place, we are very excited that he can learn in person again.
