Normally I love antique stores..this one not to much.. So I usually spend around $100+ on antiques at any given store/mall, and here I was tempted to do the same... Well it didn't go as planned. When you enter the store, it is huge. Many near booths, shelves with items, cases with things, and vendors selling pretty much, any antique you can think of. The woman behind the counter seemed nice, however my husband pointed out that we were being followed... So I'm not sure what exactly made us a target? Were both in our late 30's, don't dress ragged/are well kept, and are respectful of both property and people... This woman however just seemed to have a bug up her pooper? I picked up a item, just to look at the price, and she was watching us.. I went down a aisle, and there she was?? I finally picked up a cup/saucer and thought oh, this would be a lovely gift for my mom.. I was just holding it in my hands, not moving, and thinking of weather I wanted to buy it, or get her something else.. when the lady came up to us, and said 'oh I can take that from you' she then proceeded to take the item from my hand, and bring it to the front counter...she then very rudely gave us both a look, and left. My husband and I just looked at one another and didn't say anything. . Wow. Then we walked around the lower floor a bit more, still all the whole being followed by the same woman.. until we got sick of her,and went upstairs? Thinking of ok we can actually look, and take our time...not so much. There was yet another woman upstairs who followed us(tho not as badly as the first lady) I felt sick to my stomach being followed and started at. I was brought up in a CHRISTIAN household where it is WRONG to STEAL! I would NEVER STEAL from any place, nor did my husband give off a let's STEAL vibe? I understand people are flawed, but to be followed the whole time while shopping is RIDICULOUS? !! The lady had a attitude, when it came time to check out...I will not come back here as we both felt extremely uncomfortable..start to finish. The lady with the brown hair/shorter about 50 needs to have a serious attitude adjustment, and think what would it be like if someone followed her so closely in a store, how would she like it? Will not return.
I had the pleasure of collaborating with Kimberly at Shawnee Country Barns for a Ceramic Tree Paint night. It was a welcoming environment & the staff were nice. Lots of things to explore and I can't wait to go back.
Prepare yourself for the holy grail of antiquity. This place is massive — carve out at least two hours. The team is wonderful, especially the gentleman upstairs who helped me while I gathered “necessary” items for two hours straight. I didn’t catch his name, but if you know him, please pass along my gratitude. On a real note, you could easily spend the whole day here. Great food, ample parking, multiple buildings, tons of elbow room and seating. An exceptional experience all around.
I will not shop here again because of their no return policy. They say this is because they sell artisan made products. There would be no problem reselling a returned item in its original condition. They may have to adjust the artisan’s account, but that should be a normal part of business accounting.
I recently visited an Antique Co-Op housed in a group of barns, and it was a pleasant experience overall. The setting was charming, with the rustic atmosphere of the barns adding to the appeal of browsing through the various stalls. There was a wide variety of items on display, from vintage furniture to smaller collectibles, and while not everything was a hidden gem, there were definitely some unique finds worth checking out. The prices varied, with some items feeling like a bargain, while others were a bit on the high side, but that’s to be expected in a co-op setting. The staff was friendly and willing to help when asked, though they mostly let you explore at your own pace, which I appreciated. The layout of the barns could be a little easier to navigate, but it added to the treasure-hunt vibe of the place. Overall, it was an enjoyable visit, and I left with a couple of interesting pieces. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys exploring antique stores.
