I went to Shelf Life for the first time last night and loved it. It has great atmosphere and a decent selection of books. The staff were warm and welcoming. I'm happy to support an independent business and will definitely be back.
Lovely bookshop with well-curated selection in many different genres! I spoke with Kevin, one of the proprietors, and he was highly knowledgeable and very friendly. And I like that some of their books feature personalized notes, as in the case of the book that I bought, ‘If Beale Street Could Talk,’ which featured a note from the staff describing the impact the book had had on her.
I've helped host a few readings here in the past. Great staff and selection of books! I love that they have an array of graphic novels ranging from local to international, especially works from Renegade Arts Entertainment and Conundrum Press. If you're looking for some great graphic novels from publishers like Fantagraphics, Drawn & Quarterly, or other types of literature like zines, cookbooks, or essays, definitely swing by Shelf Life Books.
Such a cute bookstore! They have tons of unique, independent, and Canadian authors. Such a great experience in the store. Store. I could stay here all day long. But I only had 15 minutes 😭. Definitely on my places to return when I come back to Calgary
