We highly recommend South Texas Fence. We had a 6 ft cedar fence using the metal postmaster fence posts. We were a little bit leery of going with the lowest of 3 bids, but after seeing the professionalism and great workmanship, we could not be more pleased. The crew took great care in making sure every post was aligned and vertical followed by making sure the rails and pickets were at the proper height to account for terrain variation. The two new gates they installed are perfectly aligned and are very sturdy. Their efforts paid off as now we have a professional fence to which our neighbors have commented on how well they like it. Finally, Anthony worked with us as we made some changes to the original quote, and he made sure it all got accomplished.
When Anthony came to give us an estimate. We spoke to him about what we wanted. He listened to us very carefully, and when his team came out, they did exactly what we wanted on our privacy fence. We are very pleased with the work that South Texas fence provided and I would highly recommend their work.
NOT AS GOOD AS REVIEWS! LIED TO MY FACE! I would not recommend Anthony Comachos South Texas Fence. They lack integrity and choose speed and convenience over quality! I hired stx fence to build a residential privacy fence. Nothing fancy just a 6ft cedar fence with postmaster metal posts. The owner Anthony Camacho started off straight forward. He gave me a price, start date and finish date. Price was competitive and came in the middle of the 4 other bids I obtained. So I decided to go with him. He gets one star for starting and finishing when he said he would. And from a distance the fence looks pretty good. But in saying that, cedar looks good in a pile at home depot. Upon closer review the quality of the fence was poor. Rails missing screws and screws drilled in at a 45 deg stripped out. Several nails not properly shot through the nail gun then hammered in sideways. The neighbor and I had to ask the workers to go back and add some screws that were missed. But even at first inspection we ourselves missed some. During the build I had to ask young worker to make a couple holes deeper because it was only 12 in deep. He kind of smirked at me and said he couldn’t because of rock. So I replied “yes I know this is San Antonio, half the city is straight rock after a couple inches into the ground”. A hard dig is part of the job as fence builder in San Antonio, so I couldn’t understand his excuse. We had also requested a rot board on the bottom due to a drop off/runoff at the property line. He agreed and charged us extra to do it. But when it was completed they had put the 2x6 at the same height as a regular bottom 2x4 rail should go. Not at all what we agreed to or paid extra for. So I asked for my money back and would only pay for the difference in cost of the 2x6 and the 2x4. He said it didn’t work like that. He claimed that he had to run across town day of and find 2x6s and that justified the extra cost. To me that’s a BS excuse and just shows poor planning on his part. He acted like 2x6s are some difficult board to find. They are literally one of the most common treated boards found at every big box store. Ultimately after several conversations and him not being able to justify charging us extra because no extra work was done, he agreed to refund half. So I’ll give him some credit for that. The last thing that really upset and the reason for the lengthy review is that he straight up lied to me. I asked him they were going to use hot dipped galvanized nails for the pickets and he said he said yes.He clearly lied to me. The majority of my cedar pickets have black streaks running from all the nails. He used fanaco elctrogalvanzied nails. Which are zinc coated. It looks horrible. I added pickets about a week after because pickets to cover the backside of the postmasters was not included and he said they had to be installed a certain way before the front pickets were placed and was extra. I found this odd because they are literally designed to be concealed. I installed them after the fact no problem. I used hotdipped nails and have zero bleeding from them. As a 15 year fence builder you would think he would use the correct fastner. I refuse to believe he doesn’t know. He chooses to use them, either out of convenience or to save a buck.
We had South Texas Fence Co install an interior fence around our pool. One longer section was well done but the shorter section had a lot of issues and had to be redone because it was originally not made level like we had asked (and charged us an additional amount for) but unfortunately we were not happy with the quality of the rebuild for a few reasons. 1) They left sharp metal pieces around the yard and cigarette butts. 2) Several sharp metal ends were left protruding in many areas from the fence including the gate hinges, the corner of the fence where the cattle panel was cut. I had to cut the sharp pieces off myself with a hack saw and use a dremmel to grind down the sharp parts which took about 4 hours (we have a dog and an infant). 3) Nails are protruding in several areas (see pictures). 4) The quality of the wood for 2 of the posts was really poor (also shown in the pictures).
