I’ve been training with Robert at Southwest Training, and he’s been incredibly helpful. My previous trainer moved away, so I was looking for someone with a similar style and approach. My reactive dog needed a few tune up sessions to reinforce what we’d already learned and to figure out what was (and wasn’t) working. We already had a good foundation, and Robert was enthusiastic about building on it and showing us new approaches, for both human and dog. I’d definitely recommend Southwest Training!
Southwest Dog Training has performed miracles with my 80lb Belgian Malinois mix Shepherd 7 month old puppy and with me! Training can only work if both the dog and their owner are 'trained'. Duke is already a lot of dog, at times overwhelming. However, with the skills I'm learning from Devin and from the professional walker/trainer, both Duke and I are happier and he's learning good behaviors and having fun at the same time! So am I and I'm completely in love with my pup! Thank you Devin for your patience and for travelling to the South Shore to help me help Duke be the best version of himself! You guys are amazing.
To say that Devin is a great trainer doesn't do him justice. He is an amazing person who has truly become part of our family, and his team is fantastic and incredibly helpful throughout our journey. We discovered Devin online through reviews, and since we had never owned a dog before, we weren't sure what to do. Additionally, our dog needed to be trained as a service dog, which made the situation even more overwhelming. Before we picked up our puppy, Devin came to our home to help us prepare for her arrival. He assisted us in setting up everything we needed and provided drills for us to practice when she came home. Just two days after we brought her home, Devin began training her at the age of 7 weeks. Devin is more than just a trainer, he has truly become part of our family. When my puppy got sick on Christmas Eve, Devin stayed up late helping us find a vet and kept in touch to ensure she was okay. When I had to go out of town for medical reasons, him and his wife, along with their dog Cash, took care of Minnie and trained her while she was with them. Through both private and group classes, I’ve seen my puppy evolve from a baby into a service dog. Devin accommodated us in countless ways, from rescheduling sessions to arranging training in convenient locations. He was always available to answer any questions we had. To anyone reading this review and undecided about whether to choose Devin and his team, let me be frank: it would be a mistake to look elsewhere.
I couldn’t be happier with Southwest Dog Training! For my two puppies, I contacted Devin and his team, and chose to do a combination of in-home training and their group puppy classes. The experience incredible! Devin made the sessions fun and engaging, not just for my dogs but for me too. I learned so much, and was able to train my puppies with basic obedience and some advanced obedience topics as well. My puppies have made amazing progress, and im already planning to enroll them in the teenage dog classes. I highly recommend Southwest Dog Training to anyone looking for professional, effective, and enjoyable dog training. You won’t be disappointed!
The team at southwest are wonderful! After attending 4 weeks of puppy courses my is puppy well behaved and our bond has never been stronger! Puppyhood can be an overwhelming time and the team at southwest training really helped shape and navigate the quirks that came with my hyperactive Australian shepherd! They always offer additional advice and tips outside of the course content when needed so you never have to worry. You can tell that they genuinely care about your pup and overall experience! I will definitely be back for teen courses in the near future :)
