I love this place!!! Great gym with an awesome community and trainers. I’ve been working with Dave for a couple years now and even though I am moving away from the area, I will 100% make the trek here to train with him and attend the HIIT classes. I don’t think you’ll find another trainer more dedicated to working on your goals or as passionate about fitness. Dave fosters a friendly environment and nurtures success through his positive attitude and fun loving personality. All the trainers at this gym are also highly qualified and great to work with.
I’ve had Dave Myers as a trainer for years including before and after open heart surgery. Dave had been a thoughtful and careful planner in that recovery to meet my goals for gradual progress back to an active and fit lifestyle. Sessions are never the same and always adjusted for our longer term goal and any surprise condition I have that day. Through Dave’s guidance, I’ve shifted to a thoughtful, mindful view of movement, stamina, and strength that discards gym jock self judgement. I’ve watched trainers at other gyms and often don’t see the attentiveness and insight that Dave has shown me and others. From balanced overall body fitness to working around temporary injuries, Dave worked as a guide helping me stay surprisingly fit and active. Dave always has a plan. I’m 75 now prepping for a next event. Dave will continue to be an important part of my goals for quality of life.
Trainers are phenomenal and among the best in Milwaukee. They are friendly, knowledgeable, and design workouts based on your personal goals. Everybody is welcome, regardless of experience level. I participate in HIIT classes weekly, and I never leave disappointed. They are challenging with a wide variety of exercises. Dave is always watching to make sure your form is correct, and you are working out safely. I strongly recommend this gym!
I am someone who has never loved the gym atmosphere, I have always felt intimidated by the equipment and the other people training. Step Above is the perfect training facility for anyone who needs help getting excited about fitness in a welcoming, one on one atmosphere. I feel so comfortable training in the space. Dave is incredibly knowledgeable and truly sets up amazing workouts designed to help you succeed in what ever your fitness goals are. He has helped me to actually love excercise again and I feel stronger than ever. I've also done a few group trainings which totally kicked my butt and were and absolute blast. Highly recommend!
I haven't YET joined Step Above because I'm a grad student and have access to a campus gym through my tuition. That being said, Dave has hosted me for multiple team trainings, allowing me to use the space as a plus one for team workouts. I'm a sports med/orthopedic physical therapy student and value anatomic and exercise physiology knowledge in a trainer and coach and these are things that Dave has in spades. He's a gracious host, has awesome creative vision for his space AND workouts, and cares about his athletes beyond the gym space. 12/10 would recommend to anyone of any fitness level.
